Hot water brown?

I've got a Tuff Machine.

When burner is off, water is clear (and soft) (water softener)

When burner is at 100, water is yellow

When burner is over 150, water is brown

????

It is probably rust from your coil. The heat allows it to release from the coil. It happens when you run really soft water, or DI water most frequently. You need to descale your coil and clear outt he rust, especially if you are doing fleets. Otherwise you will have rust spots all over everything. (ask me how I know!!)

Make sure that you use something with an inhibitor in it. To combat it int he future, I upstream some soap to fill the coil. Most soaps have a Rust inhibitor in them. This slows the rusting process.

Bryan,

Just throw it away... :) What's the problem, you can't wash the wife with brown water? LOL.

It's been my experience that new coils do that for a while. At least new ones that come from tuff. They are simply not "Tuff" enough.

2 tings
one upstreaming soap will help but a scale on the cold rolled steel.
The other thing is this.
You build rigs. I have post's from very knowalgagle people about useing a dampner for pressure lines longer then 150 ft.
Without them you can get hurt or do damage to your wash unit.
Your reel's hold 500 ft.
Do you install dampners on all your rigs?
Do you tell people buying your reel's that they should?
Im just trying to helpfull not a pain.

Ron,

I build rigs that have washed for years and never heard of what you are talking about. Dampner on what?

I build the best for the best and if it's something that is recomended, I will gladly look into it. Find out the technical term for it and maybe that would help because 500 feet of garden hose doesn't need a dampner or whatever you call it... to my knowledge. Explain a little more or post the post we are talking about and I'll gladly look into it.

hi justin

i thougjt it was 500ft of pressure hose not garden hose.
It seem's that run's of pressure hose over 150 ft should have a pressure dampner installed.
The release of the trigger gun can send a spike back to the pump and blow out the seal's.
Dave Olsen use's one and somewhere here their is a pic.
it is a nitrogen charged bladder that looks like a large handgranade. It obsorbs the spike.

Ron,
You talking about one of these? I know it is charged with something, but they call it an accumulator. I have still had spikes, and my machine has one of these.

When I do Commercial PW most of the times I have 200' of PW hose in use. At times I had 300'-400' of hose in use even on a few residential jobs. I never had a problem using this much hose and without counting these bb's I never heard about putting a Damper or whatever it is on this line when using great lengths of hose(200' and over).

Here's some work in progress...

It just looks that way. Here is another pic. It's just how the picture was taken. Here she is. Yes, it would be a problem.

There is nothing on this trailer shoddy or not well thought out. Grade 8 bolts, washers, lock washers, stainless steel hose clamps, vibration dampeners... quality, quality, quality. Our goal is to continue to set systems up and each time be better than the time before. Ideas, ingenuity, and quality workmanship is what is put into each and every trailer I build.

Justin...

"Our goal is to continue to set systems up and each time be better than the time before."

This is one of your guinea pigs speaking...I'm looking forward to the new piece of exhaust hose being hooked up to my burner's exhaust. That engine exhaust blows RIGHT in my face (remember, I'm a short dude!).

I like the external battery setup, too!

Are you sure I only have 150' of garden hose? I thought you said it was WAY more that that. It looks like it, too!

One last thing...my hot water tank is doen, so I don't need to hose the wifey with the Tuff brown water.

Check it out!

Stay tuned for pics oif lettering in the next few weeks.

Justin:

So what you're saying is that if I wanted to purchase a rig from you, I should wait a long time, so that you will have made all the improvements by then? :)

Just kidding....

What's an exhaust pipe like that cost? I have one, but it is more of a home-made deal, and is pointing the wrong way now that I have moved the washer.

Knowing Justin, he will probably have robots washing the house from the rigs he builds in less than 5 years.

They will be little spider-like machines with 16 legs...4 to stick to the walls, 4 to spray on the chems, 4 to rinse the chems, 2 to spray on a wax/brightener, and 2 to bring you a beer when the other 14 are done!!! All this will be going on while you sit in your truck and collect the cash when the job is done.

JUSTIN

Have you put together a stacked unit yet?
hot water rig on the bottom and a cold water unit stacked on top[saves room]
then stack the reel.
Some wash units are better suited for this then others.[frame design]
got a pic
