Hoses

he has an hose ends problem not a hose problem, the hose is not failing the ends are moving. i speak to contractors all day and this is one of the most common problems people have with their hoses. the ends coming off or moving and leaks ocuring right at the fitting.

he will probably solve his problem with two wire hose. not because the hose is better than a 4000psi hose but because the ends are easier to crimp down properly.

drawback is poor Lenny will have to use a much heavier hose. maybe he is a strong guy and this might not matter though. heat more wheaties Lenny

i meant eat more wheaties

The 2 wire hose will not be any heaver for me. I have 6 guys doing the work. My problem is the hose are deteriating on the insider. The fittings are staying on. I think we will try the 2 wire hose. We can not change the unloaders. We had a K5 on one of them when we put them together and it would not work.
Thank for the ideas everyone

2 wire is heavier (Not That Much) but if you run Hot Water, 2 wire is a must!! Lasts 3 times longer than a 1 wire hose.

Guy, great advice!

Guy, the wire gives the hose strength and shape from the pressure exerted upon it from inside. More wire, or tighter wrapped wire, aids in the retention of shape. Heat does not apply more pressure on the hose, only heat. Hoses intended for hot water have heat absorbing and dissipating qualities independant from the wires. I know you use hot water. Try one wire and enjoy the light weight. I know you have a few grey hairs, try to stay away from the heavy stuff and leave that for your son. I ran 1 wire for several years with hot water with no problems.

Are you implying that I'm old???? Hahahahah!!! I can and will hang with the young'ins, they just can't hang with me!!!

I totally respect your knowledge William, but again I gots to disagree here. I ran 1 wire for about 2 years, the Northern Tool hose, and then better brand 1 wire hose. Outcome was still the same, 4 to 6 months and they crap out, switched to 2 wire and now get a year or better out of the hose. Weight is not an issue.

Before we headed to Tenn this year I had one of my guys stop by my Landa dealer two put 2 new sections of hose on the reels of one trailer. When he met us up there he had gotton that same hose, except in 250' sections. I had new hose dropped shipped to the apartments to replace it. There is 500' of that blue hose in a landfill somewhere in Knoxville. Heavy stiff stuff.

If you think heat doesnt add pressure to a hose, you dont know what you are talking about. Sorry. When we had the K7 unloader on it we had no probs. A couple times a year we would bust a hose. I think the fact the unloaders keep pressure on the hose, plus northern hoses suck. Lori is that price for 100 ft?

Brian, I can't follow the syntax of you entire comment, but it is just physics. If you want to make your 1 or 2 wire last longer with heat, open the trigger slowly to avoid steam build up and replace it when you have to. I do agree that Northern hose sucks. 2 wire will last longer in any situation as it is made to withstand higher pressure. I personally don't see the need to have 5000 psi 2 wire hose that weighs 84 pounds per 250' when I can have 4500 psi 1 wire hose that weighs 53 pounds per 250'.

3/8" x 100' solid by solid black is $104
3/8" x 100' solid by solid blue is $110

Steven, I will check the price of each hose today and send an email!

K7 unloaders are nice!!!!!!
