Homeadvisor.com anyone?

SO I generally don't use these sorts of sites because the leads are pretty low quality and the job goes to the lowest bidder....if anyone at all. I am considering homeadvisor.com and wonder if anyone has success stories or horror stories? Any experience with similar sites working better or worse?

Thanks in advance!

We used it, and went away from it because it is over priced and they sell the lead to anyone that will buy it. With that said, we now use thumbtack at about 1/3 the cost and they only sell the lead to 5 people. Also if your email does not get opened within 24 hours you get your money back. It also depends on where you live as some have good luck with them.

Most of the responses here will be negative- in fact probably all of them- with the exception of me

I used them for a short time last year to keep work going and i did real well

I do not recommended using long term or as the answer to your marketing

I was real quick to respond and ALWAYS went to the house- at least as much as i was allowed

There were a few BS leads but all in all i closed most and made some real good scores

Good Luck

It was crap as service magic and worse as Home advisor.......3 leads in 90 days 2 never responded ......1 was a job for 190.00 paid membership of 89.00 for the 90 days profit on job
110.00 So I made about 25 .....Canceled quickly

Scam, Spam, etc.......

Don't walk away...RUN AWAY FAST! lol

Heres how a thumbtack lead reads,

what needs washing, house.

what kind vinyl

where maine

Please place bid.

I was getting 5 6 leads a day, they are 4 dollars each one you bid. problem is you have zero information to go on.

Okay who gave them my phone number? Lady was calling me non-stop from Home Advisor A second call from Thumbtack, talked to him awhile till $15 a lead came up. That gets pricey quick. I'd rather knock on doors. Nothing sells better than a smile, nicely dressed, nice post card, straight talk and making customers laugh. NO SUNGLASSES! Qualify potential customers from your truck. Nice house- check. Nice car-check. Needs service-check. Paper advertising is tough with low responds but a important. Works better with a hello and handshake. Also in person sales can lead to a instant referral, my neighbor, my sister, brother, mom or friend needs this. Let me call or they just talked about pressure washing. Many people love to help you help someone else. Example. A customer needed a couple things done last week. So I sent him 2 guys for tree trimming and 1 for roofing vent caps.. While at it sent him my hvac, electrician, handyman and lawn guys numbers. He didn't ask but is new in town so why not help everyone including me.

Tried em a couple years ago. I put in probably 20 or so bids and never got a response.
