I basically do gum the same way, dual lance wand to use adjustable pressure but I have never bought or needed a 2 wire hose, have only used 1 wire hoses for the past 9.5 years now.
I have had jobs where I was popping gum all day long for a week at some places where they have never cleaned up the gum, still only 1 wire hose.
I think it is probably just luck of the draw because I have had hoses blow out each time when I was house washing, never when running hot water. Last year I blew out a 1/4" pressure hose when degreasing heavy equipment but the temp was set at about 130 more or less.
A lot of people don't know or understand about the heat rise of machines, just because you have a knob that says it will go up to 200, 250 or 300 does not mean it will get that hot. Most hot water machines will give you a heat rise of 120 to 140 (more expensive machines) degrees over ambient temperature so popping gum on a very hot day will give you the hottest water according to the mechanics I have talked to.
Some sites mention the 120 degree heat rise, most don't as they are trying to sell you a hot water skid.
It seems like a lot of people have had bad luck with the Goodyear hoses lately.
