Has This Happened To You?

David , did it do this in the grass?

No marks in the grass and it only marks where is sits for a while. That picture is from the hose sitting in the same spot for 2 full days -- around 18 hours of working. Because I know it will mark, it is the last hose off my rig and closest to the pump.

Looks like your machine is vibrating the hose against the concrete. Maybe not, but that's what it looks like.

Chris, you are right as there was some vibration in this hose as it is coming right out of unloader.

All the hoses that I have ever seen have that info stamped on them (brand, psi and temperature rating), there might be some out there that do not have this info stamped on them but I have not seen any yet.

Hey Chris, I would think the same as well. My pressure hose is one wire rated for 4,000 psi and 250 degree of heat. My machine is 3,000 psi, 250 degrees. When I talk to my local hose guy he tells me that even though they say 250 no hose will last long with that constant heat going through. According to him, not even a 2 wire. I usually run my heat anywhere from 160-180 depending on how bad the grime is. All times I have busted my hose it's been when I'm removing gum. I used to raise the heat to 200-250 depending on how much gum there is. I use a variable nozzle low pressure it with heat and then start working the gum off. I use Ron's method because though others works faster I never leave a mark Ron's way. The only thing else I can think of that is busting my hose is me changing from low-medium-high constantly back and forth. Anyone know if that might be my problem. I use that time to pick off gum as my rinse as well.

My hose leaves that same type of marking on hard rough surfaces. It doesn't matter how far from the unloader either. The last time was when we were cleaning a pool side area at a residence and it marked up these imported tiles the home owner had shipped over from Italy and they were a smooth tile. Boy was I glad those marks washed off! No telling how much those tiles cost.

Get gray and no more worries,I think the quality of Goodyear hoses has went down for some reason. I used them for a while until they were maypops.

I basically do gum the same way, dual lance wand to use adjustable pressure but I have never bought or needed a 2 wire hose, have only used 1 wire hoses for the past 9.5 years now.

I have had jobs where I was popping gum all day long for a week at some places where they have never cleaned up the gum, still only 1 wire hose.

I think it is probably just luck of the draw because I have had hoses blow out each time when I was house washing, never when running hot water. Last year I blew out a 1/4" pressure hose when degreasing heavy equipment but the temp was set at about 130 more or less.

A lot of people don't know or understand about the heat rise of machines, just because you have a knob that says it will go up to 200, 250 or 300 does not mean it will get that hot. Most hot water machines will give you a heat rise of 120 to 140 (more expensive machines) degrees over ambient temperature so popping gum on a very hot day will give you the hottest water according to the mechanics I have talked to.

Some sites mention the 120 degree heat rise, most don't as they are trying to sell you a hot water skid.

It seems like a lot of people have had bad luck with the Goodyear hoses lately.

Mine is 140 heat rise. It's a hydrotek SC30005VH. Actually been meaning to get a temperature gauge to see how hot it actually is by the time it leaves my gun. Your not the only one to tell me that and it makes perfect sense. Just trying to figure out what is busting my hose so I can stop whatever I'm doing to bust them. I live in So Cal and I'm popping gum at night when the temperature is on average a night at 70-80. Nights haven't been real cold since I started do commercial work. Can't say that I've worked on a rainy day yet.

Mind if I ask what the heat rise actually means in my case being 140?

That is correct.

We had discussions in the past on pre-heaters for the burners to get the water hotter and hotter but whatever the water temp is, add 140 to that and that is the max temp you will get coming out of the burner.

As it moves through the hose it will start to cool down a little bit, the longer the hose, the more time it has to cool before it reaches the gun.

I have posted my concerns many times about blue hose, even if it says non marking. That is why I go thru Russ for my hose and get the grey hose. My grey hose never leaves marks. I will try Legacy see if it works better than my grey.
The gray hose does work well. Ty you need to check your inbox. I tried to send message. It say's its full

Legacy gray is only available single wire, 3,000 psi.

I love my northern yellow coated hose. It's one wire 4500 I think and won't burn your hand reeling it up.

Andy, I deleted some messages so I should be able to receive now. Since Russ only has Legacy R1 in grey Ill stick w my R2 grey hose from Good Year

Southwest rubber or alternative hose?
