Hammerhead surface cleaner

Can you change the angle of the spray tips on a hammerhead? If you can, tilt them over a little more sideways so it will spin faster.

The worst striping I have had was with whisper products
funny how things work?:thud:

I never have a problem?

Also I checked into and checked the advice of alot of people, people I trust (like Kory) some say the Hammerhead is great but then the distributors told me not to buy it and said it would not hold up.

All about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I'm just a little curious here. What's the difference besides cosmeticly between the different surface cleaners. How can one leave stripes and the others not? I've got a whisper and yeah it will leave stripes slightly but dont all the twenty inch sc's do that? I thought it was because since the 20 inch is kind of narrow, the smaller diameter was the reason for this, not because it has a plastic shell and no wheels or chrome handle. I havent had any trouble with mine but it doesnt get used but about 2 to 3 times a week and is only ten months old.

we hardly ever see striping? But we dont use Hammerhead, comet, simpson or whirlaway products. I have 2 whirlaways left from back in the day, if I need stripes I will go get them.

So you are now using the ward. :haha::slap:

its caused by moving to fast or over laping, there are really ywo kinds of stripes, the most common is caused from over lap marks where the concrete actually gets cleaned twice.

We dont do as much residential as we do commercial and I would say that there is alot more mildew that you deal with there so the concrete may be dirtier and harder to clean and cause more problems, our concrete stays easy to clean since we do it more often I am sure

What I have notice that the concrete is not the same psi rating as the commerical. In Palm Coast there was a huge boom in the housing market so when they poured the concrete it is very weak rating on the Drive Ways. What I have done is to go the way the brush marks are. I also finsh it off with cl. and wet it down before starting, and try not to over lap. Also dont stop, keep it moving or you will get rings.
Unless you are doing the logo for the olympics.:wink2:

+1 on that. I hardly ever have any stripes on commercial, especially maintenence accounts, but any drive or sidewalk that has a substantial amount of mold leaves striping almost every time. So I just ds a little SH and done with it...

When I said commercial I meant restaruant grease. When I said residential I meant mold and mildew. I should have been a little more clear...So if it's a strip mall you are probably dealing with mold mildew right?

Striping is caused by two things,I believe.

As the nozzle passes across the front or back of the surface cleaner as your moving forward it crosses those areas quickly. As the nozzles move along the sides of the cleaner they spend more time actually cleaning the concrete. Its hard to describe but they spend more time cleaning on the sides of the machine then they do on the front or back.

The other cause is the necessary overlapping that causes the edges to be cleaned even more.

What this tells me is that the concrete is not being cleaned as good as it can be. Clean concrete will not stripe.

I dont think that is the case since the move in a circular motion?

I just wrote a 25 minute response and it would'nt post, I'm not going to do it again.

To help visualize what I'm saying do this.

Put a water glass on a piece of paper and trace around it with a sharpie. Move it forward 1/4 inch,to simulate pushing your surface cleaner, and trace around it again.

Do this a few times and if you don't see what I mean when I say the sides are cleaned more tell me and I'll try to explain better.

hummerbk, I had that theory too but didnt post it. It makes sense to me, certainly a lot more sense than saying one spray bar and nozzles leaves stripes and an expensive one wont.
