Fax Marketing

I am curious about fax marketing. To those of you who have tried this form of adverising, how has it worked out for you? Do you send faxs only to those who ask for it, previous clients/customers? Or do you send our mass faxs to select fax numbers, such as property managers or real estate companies? I am concerned about the general impression one may get by receiving a fax they did not request. How do you get these fax numbers?

I do it , and no I have not seen a lot of results but when I get them the are big , 1 job 22k for example , we send mass faxes and no we do not send just to existing clients we are mainly cold calling , no one has complained either , it basically keeps your name in front of them so when something comes up they have an impression of you in their memories already , they also know you are agressive and hungry

Russ,
When you say you are doing "mass faxes", are you using any type of faxing software, or are you doing that manually? I have heard of a few software options that sound interesting, but I haven't had time to really take a look. Just curious what others are doing and have had success with.

Sorry guys but I must tell you I HATE FAX ADVERTISING!
I get so much crap on the fax that I view all fax advertising the same...as garbage.
If you want to send me an ad and you pay for it okay, but don't use my paper and my ink or tie up my fax line that I use for business!

Okay I am done...sorry!

I understand how you feel. I just have been lucky with it. I have a couple PM companies where the receptionist post my faxes on the board and I have gotten a good amount of calls from faxing as part of a total campaign of calling, writing & faxing

I guess some read it, some dont. I never get any on my fax, i'd probably toss them too

My first opinion was that of Grant's because I hate getting these faxs too. You should see all the stock "inside information" faxs that come through and the like that just gets tossed in the trash. However, I've read where this has worked for some.

Before I posted this topic though, I thought of why it may work for some.

I don't like seeing the junk "stock market" faxs come through for two reasons: 1) I don't do anything with the stock market. 2) Like Grant, I pay for the ink and paper.

Most people that we would send a fax too though, are not the ones who will pay for the ink or paper. They are part of a larger company who pays for these and more then likely don't even think about the cost. Also, I will not be sending a fax to a home fax.. or to a dentist office.. only to places that I feel would be interested in our services.

If I do try this fax marketing, I will include a line on the fax that states if they do not wish to receive future faxs, to call this number. If and when they call, I will apologize and politely offer them a discount. :)

And just keep them pretty simple.

Make sure they are not on the do not call registry!

FYI... Emails comin in all day from unknowns just getting in the biz. Apparently some are taking interest for me to get them going with starting list, etc...
Just wondering here if any the regular folks on the boards want free dibs on tying up some my Do Not Call area code subscription alottment before they gone. The cross referencing needs to be done and the feds charge $65 per area code after the first five. Would rather help established folks here that are more likely to spread some good word than for unknowns that might more discretely take advantage without giving back or furthering me. They plan to take some business from you guys off this faxing thing from what I can tell...Dig deep people!..
None are from my neck of the woods persay..they mostly down South and up ..:)
So but anyways, a host of tools are all dusted off and runnin so now's the time to get some numbers folks!. Initial spidered batches are pretty much current business numbers of good quality covering all fields and most areas are in the thousands. They'll all be dedupulicated, cleaned of delimeters, deprefixed if ya like, crossed to the Do Not Call, sorted, and put into various formats. Experience so far shows about 10% loss after the chores are done.
If interested in ongoing number mining or list managing of the optouts that could be arranged...
If serious, shoot me email on it...is cheap cheap people!

So people know..Changes constantly day to day and works via a registered authorized account where they want you to check in at least every month for incremental updates after yer initial download. Over 900k my area and is 10 meg.

FCC info on what they want us to know: http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/unwantedfaxes.html

obtains the fax number from the recipient’s own directory, advertisement, or site on the Internet, unless the recipient has noted on such materials that it does not accept unsolicited advertisements at the fax number in question; or

That is so silly, thats a green light by my interpitation.

For sure Ron... all sorts of loophole basically making most talk seen around the net about it all being against the law totally flawed and more applicable to residential. Since wading through it all and seeing nothing really in play here I'm running with it. Fear tactics spewn about of being sued etc. stink don't ya think?

BTW, I have perhaps a fantastically easy solution to the creation of the fax itself towards a non-ad approach that minimizes the unsoliciated aspect. (if anyone stll concerned about such that is).. Is very similar to Ron's but perhaps can be considered more integrated into other marketing scheme.

After calling the "call back" number for the 50th time in 2 hours, from my last fax advertising (800 number) the guy on the other end of the line started swearing at me. seems it was ok for him to bother me, but not ok for me to bother him.

All I wanted was the fax number of the company he had his fax advertising set up with.

When he could no longer get any legitimate calls through on his line, since I had them tied up, he was not happy.

What a surprise!

Todd, your Bad....

He called you how many times and you called how many back? That just plain wrong man..lol.. Gotta keep business like when in business.
If it yer personal tele or non published personal fax that another story..

Had a DDS call me twice after I called him on two sepperate #'s he has listed. Seemed irritated for some reason.. Bet he not irritated when someone faxes him asking for retainer quote.
On the other side of the coin I had a little old lady call me from the sticks and said that business no longer in business since yadda yaddda died. I told her for what it worth how to get on the do not call list and off the directories but I don't think she understood really. She has no internet so there no way she is getting out of 3rd party listing directories. She sounded helpless.
