Delco price list hurting the industry,

Just a question, but what do the Orgs got to do with "The Unholy List"?

I would be interested in knowing where or how you came up with those percentages Barry. Seems 95% of what we do here is vinyl. Might just be my area.

Unholy list?

Guy.....with every sarcastic response, I lose more respect for you and the Org you represent. You are a director of the UAMCC and while sitting at that seat, should show respect and use a little tact when addressing the PW community in an open forum. Even if it's someone you dislike or disagree with. You claim no dog in the fight and yet you seem to be attempting to diminish the entire thread and anyone that see's merit in Ron's topic. Your actions and tactics defy your assertion. I have no idea what your motive is but there seems to be one....maybe it's hardheadedness or that you have to win every debate. Maybe it's me....maybe it's Ron, he seems to draw a lot of attention from Org's whenever he posts.

What does the Org have to do with a price survey from a PW vendor? This particular vendor? If you don't have an answer then I suggest you begin with the UAMCC mission statement.....actually the whole "about us" page would be beneficial. If you want me to be specific (and blunt) maybe we should use email and avoid the thread hijack.

Percentages....

While you might clean a lot of vinyl sided homes....my pool of potential homes to wash is much larger. I'm sure the metro areas are skewed to the higher side regardless of region so maybe you are in a high percentage island....don't know since I never drilled down further for any metro area but mine.

You carolina guys crack me up when y'all talk about being from the south. You're a bunch of east coast yuppies. :)

We clean almost 0 vinyl houses down here in the real south. We are almost 100% stucco or brick. The vinyl we do clean is on the back or side of a brick home.

That might explain the $39.95 vinyl siding note....maybe Delux should come visit Butler, Hamilton County Ohio and view the ocean of Vinyl. Many of our pricey'er vinyl sided homes have multiple dormers, complex intersections of pitches you can't even hit from the ground. I did a half brick half hardy board yesterday and it took 3 hours for siding and gutters.

I won't clean a 12" X 12" paver for less than $110.....I don't have time to haul all over 4 counties washing for 20 minutes a stop. We are in our 3rd season with an absolute minimum stop charge. We increased it $10 this season because of gas prices. HO's don't bat an eye....I tell them I'll clean anything they throw in front of me for 1 hour for that min charge but I won't wave it no matter the distance.

OMG....I'm starting to sound like plainpainter

For the record........Guy is NOT on the BOD of the UAMCC - he stepped off a while back. And for the other record.....he IS a member of PWNC and we love and are very proud of him :)

My bad....I'm not a UAMCC member so I don't follow the changes to the BOD there......I just looked and he was still listed there.

edit...I'm not interested in arguing or the politics of the forums. have at it....

Now who's being sensitive?

Wasn't it just a couple of weeks ago we had an ORG board member toss out sales volume in a personal disagreement? That didn't turn out well. What you billed or earned on 6-7-2011 has absolutely nothing to do with my point.......about you monitoring a thread from a mobile device to tell people they have more important things to do......move along people, nothing to see here LOL!!!

Me? I have two broke down trucks.....if you want to see who's minding the store vs living on the boards then just look at my posts and their dates.

What happens when the UAMCC/Delux does something really important to the PW industry? This price survey get's great page rank and could be a great tool but it's out dated, poorly assembled/presented and in some cases....totally inaccurate. If we can't discuss this we'll never have any voice with your Org.

Who's sensitive? Not me, don't see where you got that from Barry. And where do you get that I'm telling people anything? I'm on a discussion board voicing my opinion the same as you. The UAMCC is not affiliated with Delux.

Yes, the list is outdated I agree totally, but I (My Opinion) don't think it's a great tool. Prices vary greatly depending on the region & market.

We Are Discussing This Barry, I'm Not Saying Don't. I don't own an Org., I am a Member of an Org. In order to have a "Voice" in any Org. you first must become a Member.

I don't "Mind The Store" I own it........And I don't "Live On The Boards", can't make a living doing that.

Again Good To See You Back Barry.

Sarcastic??? Might want to check Your posts Barry. If I came off that way it's because of the insignificance of this list. It's such a "Non-Factor" (In My Opinion) that it's funny. What disrespect have I shown? Tact....Naw got none of that, like what I post, don't like it.....Don't Care.....Call um the way I see um. Board, No Board, President of the USA, I'll always speak my mind.

Barry, I don't dislike you, not sure where you got that. Yes we disagree.......So what???

I seem to have a motive??? Really??? Other than voicing my opinion, I have (Like You) no idea what you're talking about.

The only connection the UAMCC has with Delux is that Robert H. started the Org. and owns the URL. other than that I have no idea what you're talking about. They are not a vendor Member of the Org. so I don't see the connection. I think you're thinking of "The Other Org."

If you know something I don't....Please be as "Blunt" as you want. I'd rather it be in the open for everyone to see. Hijack Away!!!

Thanks For The Graft.

Finally .....

Thanks!!!!!!!!

Delco price list hurting the industry,

I titled that specifically to get you guys to take a look. Now help us fix the problem.

I think the price list in way to low, used by many new guys that actually follow it. So let’s help ourselves by updating our part.

If you forward the info to Robert he has promised me he would update the site and have it reflect new numbers.

You may post the numbers here if you like.

Keep in mind I posted this because I felt this current list does no one any good. Its way to low.

The link to list http://www.dcs1.com/del/pricing.html

Thanks

Maybe this could be a topic in Tampa next month. To be quite hones (and ashamed after reading all 10 pages of posts), that is the list I've created my pricing based on; however I went higher on items I felt necessary. I would love to talk with someone about proper pricing. I've already figured I'd edit my pricing once I began work (after Tampa) but only have the ratio guides to go off of instead of an accurate starting point.

Someone that Was affected by this, Great Stuff. Cant deny this!!!!!

Something to always remember, you need to price what you need to make to stay in business but also have to understand what the market will pay, some parts of the country will not pay as much where others will pay more.

It just takes time and working out there to see what the market will pay and if it will not pay enough for you to stay in business then you have to streamline your business or offer different services to stay in business, don't ever whore out services just to do them or just to stay busy, you need to make enough money to stay in business and also to grow your business.

I wholeheartedly agree. In the roofing industry, we are usually the 2nd highest bid; however everyone cheaper than us is also a lot newer, less quality, etc of companies n low ballets. I believe we have one competitor. I understand how important pricing properly.
The difficult part is starting a business you know nothing about and have no experience doing and having a starting point. I'd rather be a high bidder to see the other bids (some homeowners show them) so I can adjust to my market area. If I'm the lowest, the chance of them showing me higher bids is quite slim (I'll always be the lowballed which I definitely do not want).

I think anyone here can Speak there mind as they see fit. Please respect everyones opinion and please don't make it personal.

We all agree to disagree

Better late then never....

I'm pretty disappointed with the moderation of this site. Even more with the so called ORG leaders involved. If I enjoyed getting chased around by the ORG cop, I'd have kept posting on PTstate.

If the UAMCC is/was the right ORG, then they've hurt themselves with repeated poor choices in directors. It shouldn't be based on popularity or how successful your business is....people/communication skills are more important than who you know or go fishing with. Members need to scrutinize the way their directors address potential members...not encourage it. The Blood Vs Crips attitude (not all BOD members) of a few is a complete turn off.

I have recently went into business with a friend and we are looking for a little help in terms of what a professional pressure washing/cleaning company would/should be charging. Rather than call competitors for there advice or just make it up as well see fit I thought Id ask some advice from people that own there business or work in the industry and see what they think. Any info you can provide woould be greatly appreciated; such as what to charge for driveways, houses, by area or square footage, fences, decks, roofs, gutters, priced individually or as a package. We also looking onto doing boats, fleet vehicles, trucks and trailers, equiptment. ANYTHING lol. We are very ambitious to get involved in anything and everything we can do. We only own one piece of equiptment so far which is a 4000psi Cold H2O 12Hp Honda Powerboss 4GPM. It is the highest rated one we could find I did lots of research and figures this was the best choice what is your opinion on this beastly machine lol? We are gong to purchase a hot water unit in about a month we just wanted to get in the game first weve already invested well over 10k with setting the business up the bus liscence and insurance. Equiptment safety and other. Trailer. ahh and advertism=ng bus cards and flyers and more. So any advice we would appreciate im going to repsts this as a new thread hopefully get many responses.
