CVS nationwide

... had a think...

How can we as a group secure CVS Pharmacies as clients?

3 things to consider first:

  1. They need to recognize that there is a problem, or deem it important enough to implement maintenance programs
  2. We need to give them a reason to use our services
  3. We need an opportunity to highlight the problem, sell the importance of maintenance programs and sell the benefits of our services.

I guess the ball is rolling with the first consideration of presenting them the problem - by providing the photographs and highlighting the current state of CVS locations, we are making them aware of an issue that may not have been known or have been top priority previously.

How do we give them a reason to use our services, sell maintenance and our benefits?

Ultimately, I think this is going to have to be done on a local level... however, with Ron's meeting with a CVS representative next month - there may be a chance for access to a directory of our own local DM's, or an opportunity for Ron to provide the 'recommended list of contractors' and evidence of the condition of stores in their service areas ----------- would they then contact us for bids, or shop knowing that there is likely to be a large pool of Pressure Wash Contractors interested?

I think Ron's meeting is a key factor for all of us who want to be involved - not in terms of Ron having any kind of responsibility for us and our success, but how receptive the representative will be to our 'national network' and how forthcoming they are with providing an opportunity for those who have made an effort to help them.

on a sidenote, I think this is where the industry would actually benefit from a strong, centralized body that has national recogntion and respect - where the members are a true representation of what professional pressure washing contractors should be. If we, as members, could proudly promote membership of an organization that maintains the highest of standards and indicates that we are a strong, structured industry - we could use this as a way to differentiate ourselves and help us sell 'as a group'.

There probably isn't or won't be a 'one size fits all' way of securing their business, but I guess we'll find out through local efforts and the results of Ron's meeting....

... just me humble thoughts, the stage is yours again ---------

I certainly agree with you Steven, maybe some other guys will chime some idea of there own and we can seriously be considered a group effort.

A pressure washing doesnt exist in the US that could soley handle this work.

I know that CVS does have some of the same vendors nationwide.

I have been talking with them also for advice and the people who really have influence in making something like this happen.

Ron, call me tomorrow if ya want. I'd like to know if the info I sent you was any help. I firmly believe that we should COLLECTIVELY form a "CVS Union" in the sense that CVS would be contractually obligated to hire from within our directory list. I'm making a few calls tomorrow, so I'll let you know how things go.

Ok here is whats up with CVS .. I talked with Larry in Jackson and he was somewhat intrested at first.. He asked what we do and how we do it.. He also asked why our machine cleans better than his garden hose with hot water.. He also showed me some chemical that they use called rightway concrete and asphalt cleaner.. I told him I would be glad to stop by and give him a free demo by cleaning the sidewalk in the front of the store.. I suggested to him to have his associate clean the sidewalk with the hot water hose and chemical before I come by next week,, (so he can see that we can do way better).. He agreed .. He also said he is over 11 stores in the Jackson and surrounding area..I will take video next week when I go..

John, I need the pictures if you would like to be in this at corporate level. Store numbers the whole ball of wax. If your good on your own goodluck and i hope you have success.

Let us know, I know that now one has been able to land regular maint agreements. One time shots is all they have been going for.

Keep us posted please.

Actually I believe if we list some of the stores we clean and in what area on this board and let it run a while we could have a really big nationwide type setup going.. In other words if I say B&R Fire Protection Cleaning a member of the forum @(www.propowerwash.com/board) We Clean Olive Garden Restaurants in Mississippi .. Give us a call as we have been cleaning the Jackson, MS location for over 5 years.
Then we should be on google within a week..
The only problem I see with this is if they are competitors in the same area that are on this board and they go and fight for the business..

anyone made any progress with CVS on their own yet?

Ron, how did the meeting go? Are they recognising that their is a problem nationally?

I've not made much progress to date - will try another approach.

Hey Steve, this is off topic but when i met you and heard your heavy Scottish accent it reminded me of a friend i had up north.

He always spoke of the Noble Scottish Warriors...I finally read up about this years ago and was quite impressed with the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297.

William the Braveheart Wallace was quite the warrior, in fact my friend actually has a Wallace Sword, this thing had to be 5 or 6 ft long and heavy as hell..I think this sword has been in his family for many years...

Hey Nick

... 'Heavy Scottish accent'?!?!... and I was trying to tone it down, lol.:)

The city of Stirling in Scotland is beautiful and has a lot of historical sites related to ancient wars between Scotland and England - I lived about 1 hour south at Loch Lomond (another beautiful part of Scotland).

It was often said during the long Wars of Independence that 'to take Stirling - is to take Scotland'... here's some info on the castle:

Nick, Wallace's sword was kept in Dumbarton Castle 2 miles from my hometown from 1305 until the 1800's when it was returned to a monument in his memory, National Wallace Monument in Stirling.

Above is an interesting article on Wallace and how the 'noble' English sentenced him to a barbaric death...

I love Scotland... ;) beautiful scenery, friendly people and an interesting history....
