I know one day I'll look back at this question and probably say, wow was I green.....here goes...

When you guys mention chlorine.....are you talking about bleech....right off the shelf at the grocery store?

Steve

Hey Steve, The bleach that you get in stores is only at best 6%. What most of the guys, like myself use is 12% or 10.5%. Not sure where your from but depending on where you are you can usually get this at any pool supply house. Down here in Fl. it is real easy for us to get. Other areas of the country seem to have difficulty and have to order it and have it shipped. For those who have to do it that way and who pay a fortune per gal for it,,I feel your pain! I pay .98 gal. I've heard of some paying as much as $4.00 pre gal and more.

Here is the way I get mine. Pull up, dump into my tanks , pay and go... Doesn't get much easier than that unless you have a huge tank in your back yard.

I get mine for about 100 dollars in 55 gallon drums from Sunbrite. They put it in my van with a forklift. Its 12.5%

Keep up the good work SteveD and keep on asking questions, thats what we are here for!

Do a search for Univar. They have mutliple locations in Florida. I buy from them and pay about $1.75/gallon. You can get 55 gallon drums but I like to buy in the 15 gallon size. When I get home I can handle moving those on my own. Getting a 55 gallon drum out of your truck, especially by yourself, is no easy job.

We were instrumental in getting our supplier to install a BIG Hose.
He only has ONE Tank :) \
Das is Goot, because one tank run all the way down means FRESH LOVE :)

lol...you big tank guys are gonna make me fall out of my chair laughing....that's one big tank Larry...

I can't believe the help everyone shares. Man, I even got the address and phone number of a nearby company...you guys are the best.:D

....by the way....I just sent out 500 post cards for business. They have a picture of my 5 year old son holding the sprayer like Clint Eastwood holding a gun and the caption reads, "Go ahead, Make my day and call my Dad" I'll let you know how it goes.

Once again,
thank you
Steve

Once you get the 12.5% how do you mix it and what do you clean with it, most of my work is commercial flatwork and I have only been using an alkaline degreaser for sidewalks. Is this 12.5 % a mixture I can be using instead of degreaser?
thank you for any info you want to share with me.

pinch penny $1.63 gallon there stuff is new. There are going thru 2 tanks every 2days.

the 12.5% is mostly used for residential house washing and roof cleaning.

thanks for the ansewer Scott D, so how do you use it, do you mix it with water, do you down stream, or spray on directly and if you do mix with water at what ratio?, I have only been in business for a couple of months and did a search on the 12% but did not find the ansewers to my questions.
Thanks again for all your help and all the great info on this board.

That is used mostly for mold, algae, fungus, mildew, etc.... you probably do not have much of that in your area, not like the places that are close to large areas of water like lakes, rivers and oceans.

You did not state your questions but that should answer about what you did ask.

Thanks Cris, my question is, is it sprayed directly or do you delewt it with water or any other product and at what ratio, i have also heard that some people use DAWN, or do you downtream trhu machine.

Thanks

The great thing about this business is that when you learn all about the chemicals, what they can do, what they can't do and how to mix them safely, you can do almost anything with them as long as you are being safe.

The surface being cleaned and how you are going to clean it will determine if you are going to Downstream it, X-Jet it, Apply it with a chemical pump, apply it with a brush out of a bucket, etc.... It all depends on the surface, how much stain or contamination there is and what kind of application equipment you have.

The ratios also depend on how much contamination there is or how strong your chemicals are.

Do you have situations with mold, algae, mildew or fungus so we can help you?

Not really, I have not done any residential work yet In the short time I have been in Business, but it is great information to have when a job like this would come up and also great to know that there are many more options than just hot water and degreaser. If a job with mold . algae or mildew would come up I will definetly post some pictures to the get the proper help from the experts like yourself.

Thanks for the info.
