Me and the wife are going on a bbq/music road trip in a couple weeks starting in the panhandle of Florida then Alabama,Louisiana,Memphis Tenn,North Carolina back down to florida. Any of you guys from close to those locations have any cant miss spots. we have some already but we are kind of flying by the seat of our pants so no definite route yet.

You don't have to go far for good BBQ. You ever been to Porky's in Apopka? Lol

I can say I am jealous at the thought of touring the South and trying all the best BBQ spots. It's different everywhere you go sounds awesome.

Too bad you are not coming to Texas, lots of great bbq places all over this huge state.

That is a great idea! I've been meaning to do that within NC since there are so many. I'll post a list of the top ranked ones from North Carolina magazine for you

Give me a call when you are heading to Memphis, I would love to meet you & I can show you some great "hole in the wall" eats.

You guys have some amazing food in Memphis. I visited a buddy of mine in school at Southern College of Optometry, we had 3 days and we ate at Charlie Rendezvous, Gus's Fried Chicken, that giant burger at Kooky Canuck, the deep fried burger at Dyer's, Briscuit at Central BBQ, breakfast at Brother Junipers, and I think 2 more places I can't remember. Talk about food coma!!

Don't forget to schedule a colonoscopy when you get back....lol....have fun !!

Chris I would love to just tour texas BBQ joints but that would take to much time. Going to try and pack as much as we can into 7 days. We got a wedding in Gainesville on the way home so we are limited on time. We are starting at wanneefest for a couple days with some friends then heading out from there. Going to try and hit a few spots in each state it should be fun. Anyone who has ever sat down to eat with me knows I love me some BBQ or just food in general.

If you happen to make it to the Knoxville area I would check out Archer's BBQ in Knoxville. Absolutely fantastic BBQ. I have not had Sweet P's in Maryville yet but I hear good things and they were on Man VS Food some time ago. My wife and I are heading to TX for a wedding during the summer, and I have plans to try several bbq places while I am there.

If you ever make it to Texas and want to try some bbq places, figure out how many weeks for the visit and start narrowing down the amount to a few hundred if possible, there are a lot of them out there. hahahahaha

Not sure if you get to St. Augustine but if you do check out Smokin D's BBQ 110 State Road 206 E, St Augustine, FL 32086 Phone:(904) 797-2050

Dreamland BBQ in Tuscaloosa, AL, Top Hat BBQ in Blount Springs, AL and Big Bob Gibson BBQ in Decatur, AL. Have a great trip!!

Your trip would probably consist of every Bojangles in those states.
