All the stupid people, where do they all come from???

For the first time, this guy got mouthy, and started arguing. Accused us of discrimination. Claimed he was Phoenix PD seeing if we were discriminating against people, that he was going to work to take our contract from us, and that he would take it over, and on and on. ........ Why is it necessary for that type of person to play the race card. In my capacity as a Production Manager in a Plastic's recycling factory (last millennium) I had one of our New Zealand indigenous population come in to my office and say " you got a f**k'n job bro give it to me" or words to that effect. you get the picture. For a start he was uninvited in my office, and no we had no positions open at that time. As if he would have got a job from me with an approach lie that for a start. THEN he threatened to "Smash me over" because I wasn't going to give him a job. Fortunately a couple of employees saw how things were developing and the guy was physically removed to the street where he continued to yell profanities and abuse for several minutes. You have to wonder at some people.

I would've smacked the snot out of him

And the guy that we hired yesterday lasted a grand total of 3.5 hours. He was scared to drive the truck more than 20 miles an hour, and was forgetting to take the trash bags at stops, with his trainer. It is also ALWAYS a bad thing when you have a guy come back to the yard with his trainer driving.

It's a big advertising draw for the PWRA.

I don't typically answer my office phone, but I did this morning.

Really? Do you think I am going to let you take out one of my $45,000 trucks without a license? Really? I won't let you take one out with a couple of tickets, and without having driven me around the block.

Vince,
I need to know what you are doing!! 80 hrs a week sounds awesome! I wish I had that much work! I still got a little ways to go.

Latest update.

Had a guy come in to interview this morning. He passed the driving test, went in to interview with my wife, and just as she offered the job, he fell asleep. Snoring, drooling asleep in her office. She took out her phone, put it on silent, and took a picture. He woke up as soon as she put down her phone. She told him, "I'm sorry, I can't offer you the job".
He responded, "why?"
"you just fell asleep in my office"
"No, I didn't"
"Yes, you did" and showed him the picture.
He still didn't get it. She gave him a powerade, some cookies, and suggested that he go see a Doctor, because he was acting Hypoglycemic.

oh smack , ADA gonna bite you in the butt. I knew of a tractor trailer driver that was the only one in the company with a sleeper cab. he had some sleeping disorder. Also know of I guy that settled after the company wouldn't hire him because he needed 2 nights off a week to go to aa

On Tuesday we hired a guy. We looked at his work history, and saw that he met all the parameters that we like, and thought this will be an excellent hire.
Yesterday, we put him with a trainer so that he could learn the job. The trainer said he asked multiple times for a break, and he was told what the break policy is. One break in the morning, one in the afternoon, and a non paid lunch. He was also told that he could take a bathroom break whenever he needed it. He was also told that most of our guys don't take a break, because they get to go home with full pay as soon as their route is done.
About noon, he told the trainer he needed to use the restroom. The trainer told him to pull into the QT because he needed to use the restroom, too. The trainer got out to use the restroom and the new guy said, "I will be in in a minute."
The trainer used the restroom, came out, and the new guy was nowhere to be found. He had called the office and told our office manager that he had a family emergency and had to go home, Elliot was in the restroom and he was leaving the keys in the truck.
That was it. I am so curious to know if he is going to show up for his half days pay, what the deal was, etc. This one has me intrigued.

Its fascinating how many family emergencies every low wage employee has.

fasinates me how many people just dont want to work. I had a guy quit because i left for the job after waiting twenty minutes for him. He told me that he wasnt going to be " chasing me down all day"

Show up on time or get left behind.

That was my point. I was being facetious.

I'd have fired him after saying that anyways. People don't seem to know their place.

I was under the impression we Floridians harbored all of them. Sorry you all get them as well..

My business isn't up to employee size yet, but I do have helpers from time to time. Had someone get bummed they got wet detailing a car, can't wait to hear that while pressure washing haha.

Today's entry, I had a guy come in for an interview. He had a "past" that we don't usually entertain, but gave him a chance. Part of our interview process is a road test. I tossed him the keys and got in the truck. As he was backing out of the twelve foot wide space, somehow he managed to hit the one foot square pole in the yard.
I told him to pull up and turn off the truck, went into the office, and he was calling to see if I had authority to turn down the potential job offer. Surprise, I do!
I wonder what a new fender on an f350 costs???
