We prepped this log church for restaining yesterday. My deceased father in law was a member there. All the sons and son in laws helped me. We did it in his honor.

It was a homebrew. Sodium Hydroxide, Potasium Hydroxide, Sodium Hypochlorite , TSP and soap. Neutralized with oxalic.

They are coming back over it with a semi solid. It would have been better if they hadn't let the front get in such bad shape to start with I guess.
Is there any way to get that deep black stain out of the logs?

I would try cleaning and brightening again, I am not sure if will help.

Thanks Red I'll try it. The dark stain seems to go deep in the wood. Like where the sealer failed and the weathering set in deep.

Ive never added potassium hydroxide to my mix. What are the benefits? Does it come in liquid or dry form?
