http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaFiCvTIhHQ Saw this on youtube. I am not affiliated in any way with this company. My question is: How many GPM would be needed for this unit? It says in the video that this one is run with 9gpm. I have looked at similar surface cleaners, and some people say that my machine will work (9gpm). Some people say to stay with smaller surface cleaners, and walk faster. What say you?

That guy builds a lot of rigs and has some good looking surface cleaners also.

There is a rule of thumb that you need about 1gpm for every 4" of surface cleaner and it has been right with me on many occasions.

So, 48" of surface cleaner would need about 12gpm but maybe 10 would work ok.

He is running 9gpm with 3500psi and hot water but the concrete is not really that dirty in my opinion, I don't think it would clean that driveway Pat posted pictures of with only 9gpm, it is possible but I would rather be running 12 gpm just to make sure.

You could always "T" a couple machines together to get it done.

I think that surface cleaner was about $2400.00 if I remember correctly.

the concrete cant be all that dirty. he must be out there 4 times a week testing stuff. But it is big that's for sure. with it dialed in and working correctly one could clean some concrete pretty fast.

Big surface cleaners work best in level large open areas or long runs. Lots of obsticals or short runs and the smaller surface cleaner works better. If you are looking for your first one go small to start and get a bigger one later.
ya if you are using a 48 inch s/c you SHOULD have some serious open concrete to clean

That seems like over kill to me, but it sure is nicee

I agree Greg, I think he would sell a lot more of them if the price was lower, that is kind of high.

It is a good idea and looks almost like a modified big guy with the similar handle, tires and mounting hardware.

We are at epcot food and wine festival this weekend. . I'll post a video of it in action when I get back. ..it rinses as it cleans and has a wand attachment. Always tweaking it though. We only use it on residential sidewalks. . We get 400 feet finished in about 15 minutes..shhhhhhh dont tell anyone. Lol

Everybody thought a swabby was way too expensive when it came out, now some would give their left nut to be able to get their hands on one. I am not saying this is on the same level, but innovation is always a good thing for the industry. For some this would work perfect and make them lots of money, for others this won't fit. Some prefer to build their own equipment, others prefer to buy it, spend the premium to just make money.

That brings up a good point Benjamin, the swabby and the Turbo Twister are motor driven spray bar surface cleaners which are able to clean large areas of concrete fast.

The factory that built the Turbo Twisters burned down unfortunately but I have a contact over there to get parts if needed.

The guy building the Swabby is not building them anymore for many reasons but that is an incredible machine.

It would be nice of a vendor started making a Swabby-like drivable surface cleaner, with lots of guys cleaning huge areas of concrete like shopping center parking lots, parking garages, stadiums, etc.... I think there would be a market for them still, if not even more so.

It is all about making money and being efficient, if you can clean faster without increasing your expenses too much, you are making more profit as you clean more concrete faster and faster.

That guy is the biggest tool. He totaly stole that design from the one I had custom made from steel eagle 2 years ago. He is a rip off artist. Sells hydro tek machines for almost 40% over list. I made the mistake of buying my first rig from him and got totaly riped off. Stay away from him.

Here is a pic from two years ago from the one I had built. See any resemblance? IMG_0645.jpg
We have since revambed the design and have built 2 more 48" and a 60". We have one more in production as we speak and its a 72". All work very well. You have to run 2 machines for the 60" & 72". $2400 is a total rip off, but then again your talking about Dan Sweede!

That is cool!

How many gpm's are you using for this surface cleaner? 10? 12?

Did you fabricate them or having someone do it for you? There might be a market here for you if you wanted to get in, seems like there is interest but not a lot of people want to pay the $2400.00 Do you think you and your people would want to start making them? Miles and Miles of sidewalks in Florida are needing these. Once in a while I could use one also.

I guess the big question is......How much would you charge to build one?
