Orifice size + fan pattern.

Besides the (black) soap tip, what size orifice would it take to allow DSing to occur? Basically I would like a tip with a small fan pattern (15 or 25) that acts like a soap tip.

Depending on your gpm's, you can use the 30, 40 or 50 orifice for downstreaming.

I use a 1540, 2540 and 0040 for downstreaming and it works good with my 3000psi 5.6gpm and 3000psi 8gpm machines.

The 1540 for close washing and the 0040 for spraying the eaves and roof edges on 2nd and 3rd story houses/buildings when house washing and building washing.

I did not like the black soap nozzles as I have 6 different orifice and spray patterns of them, just depends on who makes them so I stick to the regular orifice nozzles for downstreaming.

You can get the nozzles from most of the vendors out there.

I was under the impression that a DSer wouldn't open with regular tips (so I never tried). Orifice chart suggests a 4.5 for my 3000psi / 4GPM machine, are these sufficient?

I would go with something similar to the link I posted. You can call Russ or Paul or Bob or whoever, and they can get you set up with exactly what you need and answer any questions.

When you use the larger orifice nozzles like I mentioned, it lets the downstream injector pull chemicals as it lowers the pressure to do so.

If you don't reduce the pressure, the injector will not pull any chemicals.

Will a 1/4 barb tip work in a pinch? Doubt I'll get anything shipped here by Friday morning (cheap anyways).

I don't know, but if not, you may want to consider postponing your job. I would not want to clean a pool cage without a good long range downstreaming nozzle.

U can use your ball valve to downstream as well. If you set your ball valve at low pressure you can flood your surface with chemical. Once your line is full of chemical u can close up the valve giving you more pressure to push the chemical further.

Actually, I just remembered, the big box stores sometimes sell downstreaming nozzles that you can push in for fan spray and pull out for long range spray. I was using one of those for a while when I was just using 4 GPM. They actually work pretty well, and they only sell them for about $5.

Do like Chris says, order a 4 nozzle holder called a jrod from Pressure Tec and order an 0040, 1540, 2540 and 4040 spray tips. This will be for spraying soap from low to high.

I use barb tips all the time, love them, they tend to bend or break easy if your not careful but a $1.50 and you have a new tip, My smallest barb tip shoots at least about 30 feet. I have a ladder saver as well, kinda like the barbs better cause there very cheap to make
