Should I do candy bags instead of rock bags?

Should I do candy bags instead of rock bags? What is a nice affordable gift to put in there? Maybe some chocolate for the ladies... since they are the one we have to sell. Hmmm... choc would melt in the summer. Might make it an excellent winter campaign.

So, would you eat candy from an unknown source? I have a certain prejudice against that.

I would not eat candy that was in a bag on my driveway, that is just more trash to throw away.

I doubt if anyone would eat candy that was found in a bag in their driveway, especially if there was a rock in the bag also.

I heard of some HOA's here and around Houston that are complaining to police about the rock bags being thrown onto driveways, sidewalks and into the grass, I guess people are getting tired of throwing that stuff away.

I get that stuff on my mailbox all the time and it doesn't bother me any more than the infinity of credit card offers that come inside the mailbox. Being on the ground is no more worse than the unsolicited newspapers that lay in the driveway. I may not eat the candy, but I would think it was a kind gesture of an honest person. The jerks who complain make good entertainment on a Friday night when my friends come over to play cards.... JK. They are not the ones I would want to make a deal with anyway.

I got six residential jobs last week because I left my card at a business. This guy knew a family member of mine and got me five other jobs. Could I get residential work from visiting businesses and leaving stuff? This was not the first time this had happened.

I agree, I would not hire anyone that litters on my property, there are better ways to advertise to your customers or potential customers.

Like I mentioned, some HOA's are calling the police on these people that want to keep on littering on people's property.

I would rather market in other ways that would not offend the potential customer but that is probably just me.

What's the difference if its in your driveway or in your mailbox if your going to throw it away anyway. The people that do not need or cant afford the service are usually the ones who complain.

That is the difference...it is INSIDE the mail box...as opposed to laying OUTSIDE in there yard or driveway. Chris is rght, around here they hate rock bags AND "bandit" signs. Mail them something and your good. Hand them something and your good. BUt dont throw nothing in there driveway and dont put signs at the entrances to there neighborhoods.

I would think they would get ants...

We use the rocks, distributed about 50k of them last year at a cost of $6400 with a return of 66k in work. We just purchased 12 tons of stone for about $350 delivered this last week. 35% of all our residential work came from the bags. We hire people at piece rate 1099 to make them. Each 5k batch costs less than $700 to produce and distribute, with an average of 20 leads and 3 complaints per batch. The high end homes tend to get the best responses. Other entrepreneurs tend to love them, so we meet a lot of very successful business owners that live in mansions the more we target those homes.

Hey it's not Wednesday...what are you doing?

I like the rocks because all my flower beds are surrounded in rocks, so I put the rock in with them and throw out the rest. That has to be the lamest way to get in front of customers. Thats like saying I have no money to do direct mail or advertise in your local paper so hire me.

Everyday I either get a bag of rocks or a rolled up flyer with a rubberband around it, and in the summertime the landscappers run all that crap over making a mess of the yard. Littering or soliciting, is not the way to get in front of customers.

I see your Point about it, i'm not totally sure I would hire a rock bag guy. I did remember running over the bag in the drive for several days. I could hardly make the flyer out. The rocks ripped the paper up
