NCE will host a Florida Meeting along with a Phx Arizona Meeting next year. NCE education will be on the road in Four City's TBA in late NOV

The question is should our national Orgs Take center Stage?

For three years now NCE has rebuilt two orgs and help several others.

What the future of the industry, what part should orgs play?
NCE has allowed all Org to join its nationwide efforts to reach out to the industry.

As members and Non member of these org I truly want your opinion on what you think orgs involvement should be.

Please realize I'm asking for the industry advice and thoughts.

Hmmmm,

I want more business info in any RT and that should always be the focus, that and networking

Now of course orgs are a part of the industry no matter what. I guess I would say if you want, let any industry org have a booth, maybe not speak because many have heard it all before and it cuts into some of the meat and potatoes of a RT. But if you provide a booth space then the contractors can still get info if they want it

Also if orgs are present they will have to answer to all that are in attendance. basically they can't hide, not saying any are, but having leaders in the org present makes those leaders aware of what the contractor is thinking, living and going through. Part of the problem with our government is they sit up on a big hill and have no idea what the average guy has to go through every day

If they arent present how can you ask them questions, the UAMCC has a BB but other orgs I dont think have one

Also if something is going on in Orgs that have to do with our industry they always can be asked to speak on it. BMP's regs etc may come up and them being at a RT might be the perfect time to find out what they are trying to do to help all us contractors

So my answer is, if the RT organizer will have them let them have a booth spacem but its up to whoevers RT it is

Why don't we form a round table committee inside the org. They set up the meeting with the event planner (distributor , Manufacture, Individual) allow the org to control part of the content.

I agree more business stuff for sure, but lets build a theme behind each meeting.

I would like to see these keep going but someone has to step up!!

This is job for the orgs......I can help them get it done. I cannot continue traveling all over the place to make certain everything is perfect.

All the industry org to share in this, no exclusive for anyone.

Open the house to all ideas and methods.

To be honest I think if theres more than 3 or 4 RT a year its to much, now if you add each org adding more RT's then its more and more.

maybe smaller local or regional RT or meetings/seminars and then maybe 2 BIG events, either by org or you or both

As for orgs and meeting, RT's its an expense that some may not be able to afford like the UAMCC. I rather see an org have their own seminar and a bigger yearly event

Then there's another train of thought, the heck with all the RT's and stuff and stop training contractors to compete against us, get rid of the BB's and all. I get that way when I see guys go to RT's and on the BB's and then they go do bids at half the average price and go out of business, but in the process they are lowering rates

You are right Ron, you can't keep doing it all, its a lot I am sure and sometimes I ask why you bother. I know you arent getting rich, I know you say you want to unite and all but I also think it will always be the way it is now. One day rosey, next day bedlum

Good luck, I would like to hear what others think. I have a feeling many or most could care less and if thats it, so be it

I'd say small events and one big event. I like the size of Mike K's RT.

And my edit here. Any Tom Dick or Harry can learn about machines, wands, soaps etc. I would really focus on marketing your business. Taking a few nuggets from Chuck's speech at Mike's RT (and a lot of faith)blew up our business this year.

Ron I personally liked our first round table in Tampa where you charged a fee to sign up and then classes were free. The speakers could then split the money received, I felt that when it was presented this way all of us had more to discuss with each other and more networking took place. As for the Org up front and center I think that having them at a booth is greatand the information is available for those who want it.

That's more of the focus, the smaller meeting will br about marketing and business strategy in this changing market.

The industry needs advancement and help from manufactures. They need to promote the contract cleaning segment of this industry.

Good stuff Don , one of my best meetings was CO when we had 12 people show up and we cold called a few places.

I would like to see this happen Ron. I could see 3 RT type events, 1 East Coast, 1 Central, 1 West Coast, and then finish up with a larger final show.

A Star Distributor from each region would be the "Sponsor" of the RT, showcasing their products with a few smaller "Product Distributors" thrown in for good measure.

If there is any "Theme" to these events, it should be Contractor Education, Business Building. Not only for Vets, but for newer Contractors that have been in Business a few years and just can't seem to keep the "Ball Rolling". I have seen more of these kind of Contractors at the last couple of NCE shows than I can ever remember. Back To basics if you will.

My thoughts would be similar to Guy on this. Do a couple of Rounds a year then have 1 big Dance at the end. Anything more then that the whole process gets thinned out. In all of this there is the PWNA to consider along with many other orgs such as some parking garage ones. So overkill is right around the corner.

Now if you got involved with Certifications or just courses in general I can see doing that whenever the call for it appears. This should be at the org. level where they back some certifications and they also get some qualified people to become teachers. There should be a % for each one of these teachesr to make then the rest gets for lack of a better term "Kicked back to the org".

Thats a different discussion altogether and it would not necessarily fall into the rounds and the big dance alone. JMHO

I agree with John and Guy. If you are going to have the organizations involved they should be bringing something to the meeting other than trying to boost their membership. I know PWNA offers courses why not have instruct a course at the meetings.

Maybe they should offer more? Will ask in columbus this week.

Speaking about offering more...

Why don't the orgs offer member benefits such as cell phone service discounts or group health care insurance plans? Wouldn't that be a way to boost membership?

The round tables I have been too, the orgs have been saying "Join today because it's $100 cheaper to join!" Doesn't that make the value of joining "decline"? Why not keep the price the same - and explain the value of joining.

Actually Micah the UAMCC set up a new Benefits package and it does have some great discounts on Cell Phones and other stuff. If I understand right its through Ohio University or they are in the same program too. Its for non profit orgs. I was surprised it had some real good discounts & savings programs. Micheal T From CENTEX on the UAMCC BOD set it up, maybe he or Guy will jump in and explain it.

On the health care good luck, I think most companies are waiting to see the effect of Obamacare and there just arent great discounts out there for small groups that I know of
