In Canton Mississippi there is a guy that has a really nice set up. he used to go to our church. He went out and bought this tandem axle ,gooseneck trailer loaded out with two machines and all.. What is sad about this is I heard he spent about $20,000 for this setup.. I have seen the rig seating in his driveway ....but never actually on the road .. I have a little over $5000 invested in my setup , my trailer , whitco hot water machine, hose , wands, 2 surface cleaners ( one of which I built) 2 wands ( 1 -3foot and 1- 4foot )
Wet / vac with pump out, and my little trailer... oh and 250 feet of double braid hose ( 200 of which is on the machine ) thats it.. I do pretty good with this setup.. I always wanted too get a big setup with all kinds of stuff so I could drive around and have a really fine looking setup but Usually one machine is all I need for what I do...
On hood cleanings I usually have all night to do a job , so I just take my time and clean it the one machine works fine.. On concrete cleanings One machine well because at what little money is charged for an average concrete cleaning if I had to pay a second machine and worker I wouldn't make any profit. When you stop and think about it unless you have tons of work I would start out small... When I started working for Reed Fire protection in 1989 we used to only clean vent hoods .. We used a old upright burner 220v pressure washer with no name on it , a generator and I think we had about 100 foot of hose.. We then moved on to get a Landa Elec 110v machine It was funny looking Everything was contained under the metal hood it looked like a box on wheels.. It wasn't until 1997 that we started using Whitco machines ( I think they were called stingers) Then in 2001 we bought our first gas powered whitco.. When I started B&R I used to clean hoods with a alkota 110v unit and a rigged up honda pressure washer.. One thing I always did before I bought different equipment is called testing the market..I would always go out on sales calls and ask We Clean Vent Hoods but we can also clean your Concrete would you be intrested in that.. Even if I didn't get the account I would listen to what the potential customer had to say.. By doing this I could way out what kind of machinery I needed and if I was going to profit from buying more equipment..
