I just started using hot water and went thru $30 in diesel in about 5 hours does that sound like its not buring properly? You can kinda see it in this pic.

how much are you paying for diesel?

As a rule we use around 1.5 gallons an hour at 2.00 a gallon for 5 hours = $15.00 and we have Alkotas and Pressure Pros

Are you guys using Red Dye Fuel? I only pay $1.67 a gallon here for off road fuel. Why pay road Tax on fuel you are burning, do you guys have Red Dye Fuel on the east coast or is it just a west coast fuel.

We have it down here in Florida. I don't know why I never thought to use it. I guess because I have to go to a truck stop to get it and I can get regular diesel at any gas station in this day and age. Thanks for reminding me though! I know the cost was at one time quite a bit different. The taxes are different on dyed diesel. I would think every state would have it. It is used in refrigerated trailers local and OTR!!

Man I can't believe they don't use it :D Off Road Fuel is the only way to GO, like I said why pay Road Tax on something that is not used for the Road. I only use off road fuel for the burner and it does ADD UP at the end of the year and it is worth the extra time in getting it ;)

We go through roughly 12 gallons in an 8 hour in the pressure pro skid and who knows on the hot box (25 gallon tank usually last 3-4 nights). After reading this post, I really need to do some tuning on my burners. If we were able to cut that in half imagine what that equated to in a year? Talk about efficiency= profit

well my truck uses more than yours !

Oh, Yeah....My lift goes higher :p And sometimes I stand on it without any hands.....

Russ, is your truck a diesel? I've got the stupid 4.33 gears and get around 9mpg pulling the lift. On a 90 mile trip at about 75 mph I got 14 with the bed empty and the tailgate removed. I don't have the truck camper anymore, I need to get an F350 or get my gears changed.

Darn, seems like I burn a hell of a lot of fuel.

Thursday night I finished 9.5 gallons in 3 hrs, temp set at 240F for full flow 8gpm (had it set at 200F and burner cut on on off, did not want that to happen so raised it to 240F, inlet temp was probably about 60F, and for gum popping 5.3 gpm at 240F, burner cycled but did not need to set any higher).

I need to get an in-line Temp guage, 20 hrs and I destroyed two BE swivels. I only notice that they are rated for only 180F yesterday , but I did not think I reached 180F at the end of 200 feet of hose during the Maryland late winter/ early spring 45F nights.

Hydro Tek's 8 gpm machine uses a 4 gph fuel nozzle to attain 200*, so your usage is right in line.

Thanks Russ,

Whats their fuel pressure with the 4.00 nozzle?.......

and what size of boiler is it? ..............20"

Do you now who makes their coil for their 8.8 gpm machine?

How many feet of coil do you suspect it has?

Trying to find out if I have the same coil on mine, builder says near 275 ft of 1/2" pipe.
