Delavan 5850 $115 and Fatboy $215

Chris, you are brilliant! You cut through the BS and went straight to the heart of the matter! Kudos....and many thanks. Lori

Something that a lot of people either don't want to hear or have not heard but the Delavan is not designed to pump bleach but we all do because they are inexpensive compared to other pumps out there.

When they first came out people were burning them up either by not rinsing them out with enough water, did not use thick enough wire, too long of wires to the battery, too small of a battery, too small of hose diameter, etc...

I have had good luck with the Delavans I have purchased with no modifications but I did what was told to me about setting them up but always remembering that they are not designed to last forever, especially with pumping bleach.

There will be lemons out there and not much you can do about that but I have read on the boards a lot and most of the time when they went bad it usually was operator error in one way or another.

Both Bob and Lori have valid points about what they sell considering the modifications, warranty, price, etc....

When you think of how much money that Delavan will make you, usually many, many times the price of what it cost, it is basically a disposable pump in my opinion, a good pump but disposable.

I have spoke to people that were really pissed off that it did not last 6 months or a year but that is just how it is.

In the end, it is an inexpensive pump and when you get to the level of work that you are doing many roofs a week or per day, it is time to look at something else or have spares but when you do the math, after buying 4 of them in a year, that is almost the price of the air diaphragm pump, you can still use the same hose, hose reel, gun/wand, nozzles, etc....you just need an air compressor.

Look at the pro's that do a lot of roofs and see what they run.

Until you get to the point of doing a lot of roofs, the inexpensive pumps will get you into the business and make you money but don't expect them to last forever.

Exactly!! If a $130 pump lasts for 10 roofs, that is only $13/roof. If a person can't add $13 to thier bidding, then they can't sell IMO. That said, I use an UDOR Zeta and do not rinse it. Never rinsed my Delavans either.

For Larry? Are you going to Orlando convention? I'd like to see your air rig. As would others.

As for Bob's pumps... Price isn't why most buy from Bob. Same reason I get higher $$ for my services, is why Bob can charge what he wants. Wish I had a Lori in my town. Our vendors don't even know what a roof cleaning is. LOL

Mike, Why are you in a distributor area arguing with a dist? We know you like BOB. Bob started here on this BBS, its not reason to give Lori a Hard time.

I have been to LORI's shop, they are nice folks.

They have been in the pressure washing business before you could hold a your wand.

Mike you bash my vendors at the show in Myrtle beach, you bash everyone it seems but BOB.

I'm sick of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The bashing of sunbrite at the SHOW WAS OUT OF LINE also!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry for Jumping Mike azz in this post but I'm sickof his bashing or others including calling folks about me.

Indy & Offduty these are good points you raise about the warrenty.

But as many have stated if its disposable why argue the warrenty issue.

Start a thread about the right way, i have always thought this pump was bad for this and its not the way I would shoot chems.

Just where the F$%^ did I bash Lori here? I have not said one thing about Loris business here. I was AGREEING with a member about the pumps being disposable and stating that not everything is about price. I am not arguing with Lori at all.

This is exactly the reason some of us don't reply AT ALL.... You twist every word someone says.

you been Bashing and casing customers for BOB at every event. Mike I have had people come up to me at the last event. Two people filed formal complaints about your actions.

I guess you might just say im sick an tired of your crap. When you bash me to others on your phone calls and accuse me of running my mouth about your past remember that your parinoid. I dont know or care about your past and give two shizz about you.

Just really tired of hearing from folks about how I hurt the industry. Your not a nice person, I have tried to show you respect and get nothing but bad mouthing.

The way you talk negative about Sunbrite is not secret, what if someone was falsy bashing FC?

You need to think about your actions.

Stop calling me also, I do not want to see you or talk with you. Your cancer to my industry, stay in house washing please.

You have made it common knowledge behind the scenes that the UAMCC was started and Ron would not be involved. Thats not a national organization. Thats a private org excluding Ron, I only feel bad for those being fooled

Clarification on the Modification

Pressure Tek offers:
"Take for instance the Delavan pumps we sell…on the 5800 series we disassemble everyone and modify the motor casing and brush assembly for the rigorous punishment that chlorine inflicts not only as a liquid but also as a gas. And after being reassembled, they are bench tested and the pressure switches set correctly for a long pump life. This has reduced our warranty claims dramatically and decreased our customers down time. Buying your Delavan pumps for roof cleaning from another supplier is a gamble because the manufacturer does not warranty their pumps for chlorine use and it is up to your supplier to take care of your problem. At Pressure Tek we have you covered!! If your Delavan pump fails within a year’s period, we will repair or replace the pump NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!!!"

Can someone please indicate what exactly goes on during the modification of only the 5800 series? (The Fatboy is a 7800 series.) How are the stator and armature modified and / or what happens to the brushes? How do you upgrade the brushes? There is only a specific size of brush for any given motor. What type of brushes have installed? Hmmmm.... Anyone? (Is it supposed to be implied that the motor has been REBUILT and gone though a second bench test with another pressure setting? Any of those modifications would void a manufacturer's warranty. Good thing it is guaranteed by the 'modifier'.) Does anyone have the results of an autopsy after the mods?

Again, for the money, the 12V's are a FANTASTIC deal. You guys and ladies are smart shoppers. They definitely have a welcome home in these related industries. A few have brought up the very valid point of the incredible value of the pump in relation to a job. If you purchase a 5850-101E for $115 and spread the cost across 10 jobs at $11.50 a job, it is extremely cost effective. Keep that spare handy. Lori.

Free nozzles always included

We are offerring the the Delavan 5850-101E for $115 and the Fatboy for $215. Call Lori for information.

We give you a 2 or 3 FREE nozzles with the purchase of your pumps and hose. Lori

Lori, I am sure you would not want anyone to give out your trade secrets anymore than Bob would. He has pretty much opened up the market for you and others. I am sure you could buy one from him and reverse engineer it. The warranty is voided from delevan if bleach runs thru it, which is what we use them for. I think voiding the manufacture warranty and getting a one year warranty from the seller is a better deal. Please don't think I am a die hard Bob supporter. I buy from him, Paul and my local vendor. They treat me with respect and appreciate my business. Not saying that you wouldn't appreciate my business.

Air driven pump are the best. We are KEC contractors. We have cleaned roofs, flat work etc also. We use Delvan, Shurflo and flowjet diaphram pumps. Im not going to mention any specific vendor or supplier. But we use the flowjet air pumps to move caustic. And we use it strong, and our pumps run 5 days a week. These pumps will last years if you rinse them. I just had one fail after 4 years. I could have fixed it but my tech in the field took it apart and reassembled it wrong and broke it. Replacement was only 90.00. But air compressors are another thing. we use the pancake style from Horrible Freight and they last 6 months to a year.

That what you use Mike?
