2,000 flyers today!

We had an "office day" today, and made about 2000 flyers, and some invoice sheets from an injet printer...... worked quite well. Got some help from the wife and cat. This cost us 11 dollars to do on our own. I'll post result after I get them all passed out tonight! Trying to be ready for next week when I'll be 100% on my own. I leave Cummins Diesel Friday morning!

i put out about 150 today and already have gotten 2 jobs out of it....

I just got off the phone with Pappa Johns Pizza here in town, I am going to do a free house wash for the manager. In return they will stick my flyers on all pizza boxes this Friday Saturday and Sunday! Look into it, Its a great way to get into neighborhoods! Maybe I should call Dominos now......

Good luck! Hope all goes well on your own.

Thats a good deal

Do you just advertise on these fliers just roofs? Or do you have print on all phases of washing?

Good luck to you, we all wish you the best at going full time. Don't forget just getting started and getting jobs is a full time job alone, put all your energy & time into getting the work.WORK IT

Jeff I use 2 different flyers, 1 for roof washes, and the other is my 99 dollar house wash, which lets me get add ons..... fences, roofs, driveways, and other things. I am looking to make "the super flyer" for this weekends pizza box ads! I'll post it when I make it.

What happens if somebody only wants the $99 house wash for there two story colonial with the Vinyl siding. Will you actually clean it for price??

I have a different philosophy. If I get alot of other work at a residential property then I'll discount the total price so that way I'm never stuck with just that one cheap wash.

$99 House wash*

* Not available in all areas. Only single-story houses that are under 800 sqft total (living plus garage) and must be within 3 miles of our office.

EXCELLNT idea, just make SURE they are doing what they say by ordering a Pizza :D

Mine say one story homes under 1,700 sqft!

I don't know what prices in your area will bear but I would be charging $225 to $260 for a 1700 sf house. If it had an attached garage even more. People who would be attracted to $99 house wash special are probably not going to add a lot to the job, ie the fence, driveway, roof, etc. I could wash three houses in one or two days and make more money than you would all week busting your tail and have two or three days to market and find more work.

Listen to John T. Charge higher prices and discount if they give you multiple things to clean.

I agree with John and Doug. Charge more.

Guys (low-ballers) who charge that little in my town are usually out of business in a year, or two if they are lucky. Your overhead will add up fast, and you will need room to grow (upgrading equipment, advertising, etc.)

My ad says: HOUSE WASH $195 for up to 2000 sq.ft not including garages.

We are doing well with this price. It is competitive.

Using just my 8gpm machine I can wash 4-6 houses a day depending on how big and close together they are. More with help using my 8gpm + 5.5gpm

People seem to be hurting these days, SC is a poor state to begin with. I'm going to run with this for awhile and see how it goes. We have guys in pick up trucks with a little 2.5 gpm pressure washers who go door to door wanting 50-75 dollars for a house wash, most are lawn care companys trying to make a buck. I had two house washes on afew of the flyer I put out and both have got add ons so far....... Hope my luck will stay with me.

Jeff,

I would agree with the others, I would stick to your guns and charge what you think you're worth, which would be much more than $99. If you raise your prices to what they need to be, you wouldn't have to compete with the lowballers, you would be hopefully pushing them out of business. The kind of work (or lack thereof) of someone washing a house for $50-75 can't be too good. Those guys would be charging more if they thought they could get it. You, on the other hand have made an investment in yourself, your education, and your equipment and you won't stay afloat full time at $99 a house with a possibility of add-ons.
Go and take a look at the Demographics for Goose Creek http://www.cityofgoosecreek.com/?name=Site&catID=15199&parentID=15195 . You have 26% that fall in the $50k-$75k range and another 11% that fall into the $75k-$100k range. You can order a mailing list from a list broker and specifically target those who have this income range. You could also look at expanding your service area, if the number of households that you wish to target aren't enough.
I think I would expand my area before selling myself too cheap. You seem like a pretty sharp guy, would hate to see you go out of business in the first year full time because you priced yourself too low.

Jeff, I gave an estimate last week to wash the eaves on a home. I quoted 170. She told me a friend had her whole house washed for 100.00 last year. My comment was, that price was way cheap and I could not afford to do the quality work I do and with my expenses for such a low price. I did the job last night and was paid my 170 for 1 1/2 hour job. My point is that everybody wants a good job for the least amount of money. Charge what you are worth and also look like the professional you are. The rest may fall into place. "Fake it until you make it!"
