working by yourself

What are some of the things that you do to save time, when working by yourself? I know walking back and forth to the washer to shut it off between chemicals and rinseing is a big time buster on big jobs. Working with a ladder...... forget about it!

I used other guy suggestion and got a ball shut off and put it on the hose at the wand. I just shut it off to change between surface cleaner and wand. It saves alot of time.

to save even more time configure your gun to take a wand or the surface cleaner eliminating the need for the ball valve. once i start my machine i never have to shut it down til the jobs done. i can use the same gun to apply chems, rinse, use a wand, and a surface cleaner(either my steel eagle or my mosmatic). just a thought.

also by having your wand where it quick connects to your gun allows you to spin it to change the spray pattern from the tip from vertical to horizontal when washing a deck.

If you are going to be a one man show ,the only way to go is RADIO REMOTE CONTROL!!!!!
Big $$$ But saves on LOTS of time.
We use Pro-Gun Systems
Pro Gun Trans. $450.oo
Pro Gun Receiver $750.00
Charger $40.00
for a total of $1240.00
It pays for its self in four weeks if you pay a helper $8.00hr 5 days a week =$320.00 By 4 weeks = $1280.00

you could also add the old dual lance into the mix. The radio thing, is that the remote start and such? I recently added the ball valve and it has made life so much easier. Everything everyone said here are great things to save time and money. I like the dual lance when cleaning concrete, I got the idea from Jon at Oasis, after the surface cleaner, you use the dual lance to rinse with one tip and remove gum with the other.

C'mon guys, what are some more ideas?
I'll tell ya, if we could get everyone on these boards together for one weekend trading tips and showing how eachother does things, not just using words, imagine how much we would all learn.

Exactly!! You just described one of my favorite aspects of a PWNA seminar. Worth every penny.

I agree Mike, the only problem is everyone didn't go to the seminar. I am also guilty, Maybe Vegas will be better.

speaking of remote controls

has anyone seen the type that works on a clutch system?
pull trigger and the clutch kick's in and rev's the engine and starts the pump. Let go and pump disengages and motor idel's down.
No unloader, save fuel, less rpms over the life of the pump and motor.
Also has controls on the trigger gun for 3 chems plus the heater.
Cant remember the web address or name?
I would think that this type would save it's cost in wear alone, much less the time savings.

I do remember reading something like that somewhere recently. I don't remember the ad or web address, but I will keep my eye open for it and let you know when I find it.

Guys keep one thing in mind when you talk about working alone, safety.

It is better to pay someone even if all he does is hold the hose then be out there alone UNLESS your area is 100% crime free.

Heck the helper can clean the equipment or truck if nothing else.

dang JON

Sorry you work in a place where you dont feel safe.
I bet you could get a carry permit if you wanted to.
Im one of those people that "lash out" when i feel threatened.
So a carry permit would'nt be good for me. I need the extra time to think before i go under the seat to get it. lol ??

We use a system that uses a clutch to engages the pump.
