Work the meaning of your life

I read a book of the same title that is really good. I thought you guys would appreciate the perspective: 'work is the great equalizer- everyone has to come to it in order to find meaning in living: no short cuts, no detours, no bargain rates. Money does oil the wheels on which the world moves, but it is human energy exercised through work that supplies the power. Money does not create civilization; only work does that! Money spreads civilization around. Work creates civilization and culture. No work? Then nothing else either. Culture and civilization don't just happen.' This encouraged me to think more highly of what I do. Money and profit really shouldn't be maligned because it is the proof that work, creation of a better life, is taking place. It's us that get up in the middle of the night and slug it out day after day and clean what is a mess that helps to make this world a better place! We do our work and so others can do their thing. If everyone stopped working civilized life would quickly melt away! This helped elevate my vision.

George, good point. It goes to show the entitlement mentality is not only a self centered way of living but undermines the very culture and civilization that provides their well being. My working not only provides for my family but it also allows others to create and do things so my life is enriched. We all need to pull our own weight for society to flourish. Liberalism is a red hearing. It reality isn't caring when we create a culture that disdains work. The government needs to encourage hard work not laziness.

Work is an investment in society and our future. A huge segment of society is being overtaken with laziness and complacency. Welfare programs are part of it, but people are no longer accountable to one another. Children are no longer taught or allowed to make friends in school, but to avoid any confrontation. This breeds fear in our next generation. People who are afraid to leave their home or to make friends will not succeed..... ever. Parents are responsible... period! Our children will mirror our behavior, so don't be a bully and don't be a coward. Have friends, have fun, have a good life and our children will follow. :)
