Winter Time at EasyPro

We actually do have a creepy black van driven by a seriously scruffy nasty toothless contractor around here.......he scares me.

There's a thread :) I was nearly killed by a squirrel in my house - well, maybe not almost killed exactly - but he scared the living hell out of me!

I wonder how Ms' Smith with a roof wash likes the little gansta boy "dog" rap? Very professional.

Here was my original post "dog"
This must be a "residential" service base issue. Not a single one of my commercial clients has ever asked where my office is. Moronic residential customers calling from my yellow page ad that specifically says "commercial only" are always asking where we are.

Be careful who you alienate by insinuating that a home-based business isn't a "serious" or "stable" business.

There are a lot of guys on these boards who work out of their homes. Many of which eclipse your business.

One of our friends runs a home based business and makes millions. He has a 28 cars none of them are Toyotas. -- A landscaping contractor we know runs his business out of his house. He has 38 crews and bills over 9 million per year. All his equipment goes home with the crews. All his maintenance is done in the field by a dedicated maintenance truck while the crews work. His company has been featured in many magazines.

Congratulations on your office. I hope it pays off for you.

Where's the whining and boo hooing you are talking about. We're not jealous of you. Are you kidding me?

I was simply giving you an opportunity to straighten things out before you burned bridges with guys who did help you. But you thought they aren't "real" business owners.

AND YOU STILL THINK IT!

The "mentors" you named off think it also. I'd suggest you go take a look at some of their "businesses". No, nevermind, just take a look at your shrine and theirs will probably look exactly the same as yours.

I invite you to come see my operation anytime. I have a working office. Take a look at what years of learning how to streamline and take in shipments and move inventory looks like when done properly. Take a look at how two guys can pull in $300-$500/hr on a regular basis cleaning filters at $7.00 each and three or four can almost double that! Then compare that to your $20.00 lawn mowing operation and your pretty flashing light trucks.

Take a look at the background of Ron's videos, it is a WORKING OFFICE not a shrine to himself.

You're right about one thing. I haven't helped you with a thing. I tried to this one time. I thought you might see how stupid and arrogant your stance made you look, but you still fail to see it.

Good luck with your .... business(es).... and your relationships. Have you made the choice between your girlfriend and your job yet Mr Big Business?

I don't know DJ. If someone came up to me in an unlettered truck, 40 years old, no company logo, that would be a tough choice.

On one hand I have a smart azz jack off who's going to be better than 80% of everybody else so he won't have to do anything when he's thirty :rotflmao1: (as soon as he gets out of his daddys' house),

On the other hand I've got this guy over here with no logo on his truck, 40 years old, no company logo to be seen and NO BBB Sticker!! :killingme: I bet he doesn't have any mugs or pens either! What a loser!:dirol:

Oh, yeah, here's the guy -- http://www.prokleenpressurewashing.com/

Such a difficult choice.

Your arrogance is impressive. I don't know how you say the things you say with a straight face.

(so this doesn't get lost in the translation for anybody who didn't listen to DJ's video, he made the comparison of himself vs the 40 year old guy with no logo on his truck to demonstrate how superior his marketing of himself is)

no offense to any of you but who really cares about any of it and what does it really matter anyway?

Kudos to Scrappy for sticking his neck out and going for it!

Wow I have personally made a lifetime of mistakes in business but what makes me better are those mistakes I had to learn from. DJ will probably make many many bad decisions before its all said and done but as long as he learns from them he is better for it. There is no training guide for running a business, business model are all different, what works in Kentucky may not work in Alabama or Washington.

Good for you DJ, keep on keeping on. Real men dont need a pat on the back for helping you or giving you advice in thepast, they are just glad to see you doing well.

Rock on in 2010!

I don't have a shrine, but have a somewhat extensive technical library in my mind.It has been often used as a research tool for others to further their businesses.
I don't profess to be a businessman I hate that aspect of it all I'm certainly smart enough, but when I have an in house bookkeeper why bother.
I have a good friend to help with web stuff and another who is going to help revamp the marketing for 2010 and I can not thank them enough for all their time.
My shop is 10x12 on our property and houses chems, tools, spare parts etc. and a few boxes Angela couldn't stuff in the attic. My $40k truck isn't lettered, doesn't smell like azz nor is it filthy. The vast majority of my customers only see me when I sell the job.I show up clean, freshly shaved, teeth brushed selling them on hiring KPC and it's 40something owners because we can do it better.
At the end of the day I like what I do and the only peoples who's opinions matter to me are my families.
GO ME....................I"M AWESOME!!!!!!

You know what DJ. Just forget it man. Just keep on doing whatever it is you're doing. I just put my 2 cents in because I thought all it would take would be a little nudge for you to look at everyone else with a little more respect.

Here's my response video. I stumbled across it by accident tonight and it floored me. I apologize for whatever stress this thread has caused you. It's all kindof stupid in the long run.

Well, I am in my 40's and run my business out of my house, If I had to guess, I would think that maybe 70 to 80% of all the people in this industry, not just who is on the bbs's (not everyone in the industry comes to the bbs's or even knows about them) works from out of their own homes.

I try to shower every day, sometimes several if I get very dirty a lot. hahahahaha I don't shave on days that I am not working, not that important to me because I am not going out meeting people, just hanging around the house or picking up my son to spend time with him, he does not mind me not shaving, just that I show up to spend time with him.
I do try to brush my teeth every day, wish they were better looking, maybe I need to get the Hydrogen Peroxide. hahahahaha

I grew up in a small, family run business and were always doing what had to be done to make it, help feed the family and pay the bills, sometimes you don't look professional but people get to know you and you do make good friends over the years and they are the kind of people that only want you taking care of their properties, they never mentioned about looking professional or about uniforms or lettering on the trucks or any of that stuff, they just wanted the right person to do the job the right way the first time.

I got my truck lettered a little over 2 years ago but I did have the magnetic signs from day one, did not have the logo'd shirts until about 2 years ago, could not afford them with all the bills, son's medical bills and everything else but we make do with what we have and try to do a good job.

I might not be the most professional guy out there but I try to do the best job that I can do, I try to learn as much as I can from all the great people here, at the round tables, online chats, etc.... Thank You Everyone!

I might not be the most articulate guy out there but I do try to sell as best as I can with my limited knowledge of selling but I am always trying to learn more all the time from you pro's out there that help me by sharing what you know. Thank You.

I never claim to know a lot, guys from all around the country find my website and call and ask for advice and I try to help them as much as I can but usually refer them to someone else that knows a lot more than I do or tell them that I will try to help them by finding out the answers and have them call me back later on. I have been helped here and on the other bbs's a lot. Thank You Everyone!

I have a garage and a storage building that I keep stuff in along with 1 of my 3 trailers but one day I want to build a larger garage or get a covered area to park them in from out of the elements, that would be nice to have and a lot easier to work on them on the hot summer days, no shade tree here, it fell over years ago with the hurricane and damaged the house and one of the trailers but soon I hope to plant another tree but it will take years to grow so no shade for a long time, O well I will make do.

With work being so slow the past couple months and with all the family members being very sick a lot it gives a person time to think about what is really important in life to them, Family and good friends. You remember the times that you were there for them and when they were there for you and everyone helped each other out all the time.

Just wanted to tell everyone a big Thank You for everything!

That was a great video Tony, Thanks.

It really makes you think of what is really important in life.

I want to clarify something about my post, I was not trying to point fingers at anyone but basically saying that those of us that are considered successful in this business and have been in it a while need to rethink how we treat people sometime, DJ is full of piss and vinegar some days and others he is quiet, he is relentless in pursuit of his dream (the same dreams we all have). He makes mistakes (like us) he rubs people the wrong way (like us) and he is proud of his accomplishments (like us).

Its just seems like we can be a little harsh at times instead of understanding that we were all him at some point, maybe we didnt do the things he does but we still had goals and dreams and were trying to figure out how to get our piece of the pie. So cut him a little slack, I know I know he attacked a bunch of us 40 somethings whith that last shout out but only after taking a few hits himself. I would have gone into a freakin rant if it were me.

I have decided to do my best to be more helpful and a more positive person in 2010, that is my goal for next year and that goal alone without my business plan (I do have one) will help me attain my other goals in business and in life.

I wasted so much energy last year being mad at this org or this person and trying to figure out this or that agenda that I am afraid to see what it cost me in business and in dollars. In spite of it all we ended the year with a 6.5% gain in our net income over last year. Not the year I wanted but still moving and just so you know 2008, the year we just topped by 6.5% was the best year ever and it had a 31% gain over the previous 2007 year.

So this is it, I am going to follow my simple business pland and follow these few unspoken rules

1 - Love the Lord first
2 - Love my neighbors as myself
3 - If I dont have something nice to say - I wont say it!
4 - "DO THE RIGHT THING WHEN NO ONE IS LOOKING" (because someone is!)

Best wishes and Happy New Year to all!

Well said big guy!! I was with Scrappy at his first R/T in M/B we had a blast that night at Masters, He seemed much different then. Hey whatever no one can tell anyone how to run their biz, everyone seems to reach their goal in different ways. Heck I'm 50 years old if I listen to Scrappy I might as well off myself.:triniti:
