Window Washing

I had spoke with a window cleaner awile back. He said the best recipe he has ever used and still does is: 3 capfulls of simple green and2-3 good squirts of Dawn Dish soap to each gallon of water. I've had a few of my customers ask about what to use on windows and I've told them this and have gotten rave reviews. Tried it myself and it worked great! Hope this helps...:)

I have recently added window cleaning as well. I just use a couple squirts of Dawn. It seems to work well or me. The simple green is a good idea too. I'll probably give that a try this afternoon.

Hi Danny,

A Good Source is Harry Falk Company, at harryfalk.com. We have purchased supplies there. If you call, the Nancy is the owner. Nancy is very helpful. They are located here in Minnesota and have been in business since 1926.

All good ideas, I have Simple Green here in Gallon Jugs I use for washing dirty spots so that one thing I don't have to buy. WOW I did not know there were so many brands of Sqeegees out there on that site, So what brands are the best to buy?

I just got one from Home Depot. It works good enough for me. Until I get more widow cleaning contracts they will do the job.

Dish soap is all you need. Window cleaning soap works a little bitter but usually not worth the shipping if you can't get it locally. Go to Costco or Sams and get the big giant container of dish soap. Try different types, as some can dry out your hands, especially if you use to much. We have been using the Kirkland stuff lately.

I like the unger ergotech squeegees because they are quick release and don't need clips to hold the rubber in the channel.

Do any of you offer Window Washing? The two new shopping centers I picked up want me to do window washing and a bunch of other things for them because they are from the Sac area of Calif. I have never done window washing so I really don't know what to charge for doing it. I have watched a few video's on washing on the internet, but wonder if anybody here could give advice on this type of work. It looks like I will be picking up a lot of different work from this Managment Company in the maintenance field.

Any Help guys would be appreciated in the windows washing area.

Thanks Terry...........

If they want window washing and you dont do it or dont want to be bothered, then network this out to a competent window cleaner in your area. He will be sure to give your name out for pressure cleaning.

Yea I have thought about subbing it out and I may end up doing that if I get any busier, But for now I might try to do it my self.

I found it to be to time consuming and not that proffitable time wise. If you are very good at it and can move real quick like the guy i use, then i guess it's worth it. He can do a large S/C with big windows complete in 2 hours with a helper.

He only charges me $200.00 for the window cleaning, so i tack that on to the price of the job and dont have to deal with it, heck in 2 hours i am thru half of another center.

We use all unger equipment. I haven't ever actually tried any other brand so I can't say that unger is the best or anything but I like unger. Window cleaning has gotten me into alot of power washing accounts, I can get into a place for what seems like cheap and then the next thing I know I am washing the managers house or the house of the manager of the place next door. It also makes it easy to upsell the dumpster pads and sidewalks.

Well they Asked me today for a Quote it has been 4 months now and they are ready to get them washed up, So now I have to give them a Quote on all these windows. There is 400 Panes that they want washed and 24 Glass doors in this complex, outside only. They want it washed Quarterly so some help on pricing these would be Appreciated. You can see from the pics that I posted what they look like and I have never done windows but this might be a good way to learn I guess LOL. I'm thinking a 1.50 a Pain is that even close? and I don't know about the doors know body told me what they price these at?

Charge the same for the doors, unless they are huge. I would try for $2 or maybe even $3 a pane if you think you can get it. You know the customer better than me. Looks like a nice place, I'm sure they appreciate quality. When you start don't get discouraged. You aren't going to be fast and will not make a lot hourly at first. Stick with it and you'll be knocking em out in no time!

Is anyone doing it now?

I will give it a shot LOL I need to buy the stuff now to wash with, I know I will be slow but I think I will do OK. After a few times of washing I'm sure I will get faster at it.

I have some Awnings to do too and I had them send me the info on them what brand and looked it up on line for cleaning, it should be easy, one has a lot of bird droppings on it but they say to use Woolite or mild cleaner to wash them up.
