Why Most Pros Run the BE Centurion Hose (And Why Hot-Water Guys Should Too)

Walk any trade show floor, or look at the rigs parked at one of our training days, and you'll see a lot of the same gear. BE Pressure's Centurion line shows up everywhere: pumps, reels, swivels, and the high-pressure hose that ties it all together. There's a reason for that. Pros don't keep buying something that lets them down on a job.

Let's talk about the hose, how it's different, and how to order the right one the first time.

It's not a homeowner hose
The hose that comes in a big-box box is fine for washing the boat twice a year. It's not fine for 8 hours a day dragged across concrete, around corners, and through hot water. BE's pro hoses are built different:
  • Wire-braided rubber, not plastic. The 6,000 PSI hoses use two layers of steel wire inside. The 4,500 PSI hose uses one.
  • A wrapped rubber cover that holds up to abrasion, punctures, and cuts from dragging it over rough surfaces.
  • Swivel x solid crimped ends, so the hose doesn't fight you, twist up, and kink every time you move.
  • Stainless steel fittings on the 6,000 PSI hoses, so they don't corrode.
  • A non-marking grey option. Nobody wants black streaks on a customer's light driveway or deck after you just cleaned it.

Rated for hot water. That's the big one.
If you run a hot-water rig for commercial work like fleets, restaurants, dumpster pads, or heavy equipment, your hose rating isn't optional. A cold-water hose on a hot-water machine is a blowout waiting to happen.
  • 100' x 3/8" 6,000 PSI (black, 85.238.211): 6,000 PSI, 310°F (154°C), 2 steel wire layers, stainless swivel x solid, 29 lbs.
  • 100' x 3/8" 6,000 PSI Non-Marking (grey, 85.238.215): 6,000 PSI, 310°F, non-marking cover, 29 lbs.
  • 50' x 3/8" 4,500 PSI (85.238.153): 4,500 PSI, 300°F (149°C), 1 steel wire layer, brass coupler x steel plug, 12 lbs. This is the hose BE puts on its Centurion-pump machines.
That's plenty of headroom for commercial hot-water work. Just know the double-braid hose is heavier. That's the trade-off for the extra strength.

How it works, and what to tell them when you order
  1. Inside diameter: Most pro rigs run 3/8". It carries your full GPM without choking flow.
  2. Length: 50' for truck setups with a reel extension. 100' is the commercial workhorse. Make sure it fits your reel.
  3. PSI rating: Rated higher than your machine's max pressure.
  4. Temperature rating: Got a burner? Say hot water and ask for the 300°F or 310°F hose.
  5. Fittings: Quick-connect or threaded, and which end needs the swivel. Match it to your gun, reel swivel, and pump.
Tell your dealer "3/8 by 100, 6,000 PSI, hot-water rated 310, swivel end, quick connects" and you'll get the right hose.

Take care of it and it'll take care of you
  • Don't run it over or kink it hard around corners.
  • Release the pressure before you disconnect.
  • Coil it on a reel. Don't leave it knotted in the sun.
  • Bulge, exposed wire, or a weeping crimp? Retire it.
  • Drain it and keep it from freezing.
