Why Do Digital Signatures Sometimes Fail When Closing Important Documents?

Why do digital signatures sometimes fail when closing important documents like rental agreements or job contracts, and what backup methods work best?

My rental agreement signature failed during a storm last winter. The file got corrupted, and I re-uploaded it. Sometimes internet issues or file formats cause errors. I always save a PDF backup now. Re-trying with a different browser works when the first attempt fails.

My signature failed on a lease renewal right before moving day, and I panicked. I looked up the docusign customer service phone number but ended up emailing the landlord with a scanned signed copy instead. They accepted it. Digital tools can fail during high-pressure moments, so having alternative methods like email or physical copies saves time when deadlines matter.
