What would our founding fathers do

I'm sure they're rolling over in their graves... along with countless others that died fighting for our freedom...

Stories like this just sickens me and makes me think that they died in vain!

Render unto Ceasar the things that are Ceasar's. If you have 50 people meeting on twice a week in a residential neighborhood, do what the law requires. Being a Christian does not make you above the law. Thonk hard about my answer before a quick reply. For the record, I was homeschooled for many years and have sat in my living room for church a few hundred times.
 
First off they would never have passed this law.....Second, gotta agree with William, if it is a law and they are violating it, stop violating it and get to work to change it.
 
What I read is that it Illegal for more that 3 people to meet at one location in that area. I cant believe that doesnt happen in other homes in the area. It is plainly a attack on the Christian Bible study. It would be interesting to see if the same would happen if it was a group to study the Koran.
 
So, basically it's illegal to congregate in your own home...

You can't have anymore than 3 quests at any given time, because it's "The Law"?

That's not how I read it. Looks like you can't have a regular meeting that consists of 3 or more people. So if you live there you would not be able to have more than 3 people over every Sunday to watch Football, or Thursday Night Poker night, etc etc. Many HOA's and small towns have silly ridiculous laws like this.
 
So they apply for the required permit or move the meetings to an establishment permitted for public gatherings. No one is banning the religious aspect of the meetings, just the fact that a meeting that large takes place on a regular basis in an unsuitable location. If they are impeding the flow of traffic on a residential street twice a week, I can see where the neighbors may take exception to the gatherings.

There's a small (50 -60 member) church group that rents space at the firehouse across the street from me every Sunday.
 
They are violating the law and should be made accountable - The city and its officials that is! A government can no more make something illegal than they can make something legal - can it legalize theft, murder etc? The LAW stands above the government and the governed. It is not made by the powers that be. That statute or whatever it is is an affront to law. IF the people have harmed anyone in any way then they should be accountable. There is no place for this in a free land.

Why is the fine for a regular meeting 300 but religious groups 500....
 
Go back and read the story. The neighbors are coming forward in their defense. This is probably because of one jerk just trying to cause trouble. Or, it might just be the local government doing the same.

The story didn't say anything about any complaints from the neighbors.

I don't know about any of your groups, but I know that if a neighbor complained to us we'd break our group up into a smaller group. But apparently that's not the case here.

Or not moved there...you've seen where I live Tony, I live here cause there are NO Laws like that. If I want to leave my garbage cans out over night I can, If i want to put a sign up in my front yard I can. If I want to put up a 15 foot tall play house for my daughter I can. Unfortuantely now when moving to a new neighborhood or small city you really have to check out the deed restrictions or stupid laws they have.

I like that. That is exactly what was due and that was what he got.

If you guys are going to take the stance that there is never a place for Christians to rise up against the government when they have the ability am I to assume that you also believe that our founding fathers are now burning in hell for doing the same and producing the greatest God fearing country that was ever on this earth? (Up till the last 50 years or so)

They had one neighbor complain about the cars in front of her house. They coned off the front of her house so no one would park there. Saw it in the video.

That's true, I'm the same way. I have lived in homeowners associations and we have to sign an agreement to those types of things before we move in. It looks like this is not a homeowner association issue.

No, but there are many City's that have stupid laws like that. Larry, and you may remeber too Tony, the Largo 8 in Largo Fl. 8 guys that got arrested, charged, and went to court, because they played nickel dime quarter poker in there own mobile home. NIce Double Wide Community right there in Laro Fl.
 
Maybe if we were required to sign off on the stupid laws like you have to on association rules the ignorant public would become aware of just how many rights they don't have anymore.

But they will never do that. It takes a lawyer to defend you because only he and the judges can understand the law, yet your "ignorance of the law" is no excuse.

Try carrying a concealed weapon on a cross country trip. Within hours you will be a felon somewhere.

It's time for a drastic change.

I'm sure there is an ordnance on the books regarding parking or hindering traffic.... If there are any sane people in this county, they'll vote it off the books.....come on, 3 people? This sounds more Orwellian than common sense motivated.

Just think of the activities restricted by this...like political, religious, girl scouts.....

From what I read, even if they bused in every swinging Harry.....they'd still be in violation so parking might have been the excuse but power & control was the goal. These "appeal to emotion" type laws are how government slowly slips into our daily lives....People assume it's about parking because it was cleverly designed/written that way.
