I just got back from the Dog park... I got a new german sheppard.

I like camping & fishing,, most everything involves my kids. I do play billiards & hike.

Mostly spend as much time with my family and my business.

My youngest wants a motorcross Bike... maybe for b-day???

Steer him away from the MX bike Ron - this is the voice of experience speaking.

Tim,

Big question. do you take orders for gas tank fabricaton? I would be interested in getting a 5.0 gal tank for my 99 VLX 600 shadow. All the tanks I have seen are retro'd harley tanks and are cost prohibitive.

By the way. NICE JOB DUDE. Well done.

Ron,i have a 99 yamaha yz 80 that might work for your son, that is if he dont mind the extended swingarm i put on it.

i seen the dog in the pics very nice.

reedsterstl, the tanks you need would have to be hand formed from sheetmetal using a beanbag and hammer, most of the body making experience i have is fiberglass modification and moldmaking,if you knew what was involved in making a one off piece, the $700-900 companies charge for the tanks your looking at seem like a bargain.

i spent three months one time modifying and making a mold for a one piece motorcycle body.

i will look around and see what i could possibly do to help you out.
email me pics of the ones you have been looking at.

reedsterstl, i was just thinking, depending on how big your tank currently is,it would be possible to use an oem tank to make a "buck"

then modify the buck to get the shape and volume you are looking for

then finish the "buck" and use it to make the "mold"

once the mold is finished you wax it a few times with a mold release agent, then apply two coats of gel coat, then handlay one layer of fiberglass matt, and one layer of fiberglass cloth, once it cures it is ready to pull out of the mold.

most fuel tanks require a two piece mold and a special resin that is fuel resistant.

then of course you have the option of carbon fiber and vaccum bagging.

are you still interested? LOL

In my spare time I like to grow a vegetable garden. Planted tomato, eggplant, peppers & kale that are doing great. What I like they stay until it gets cold in Florida. Of course I plant other things as well but they don't last that long. Nothing like fresh veggies from the garden. Don't need alot of room a little space will do as long as it gets alot of sun. Anna:)

one of my favorite is fresh tomato's,vegetables taste much better coming out of a garden then the grocery store.

Hi Ron,
Saw the picture of your new dog. How old is it? Are you having any trouble training her or him?

I always had German Shepherds they are a beautiful intelligent dog. Post some pictures when you get a chance. Anna

i just got back from the race track,i lost a job this weekend to a competitor because i couldnt get to it,but i have gotten to a point where the only way i can get a weekend off is to give up the work,is it only me,my customers always call me at the last minute and its gotta be done within two days,if i cant get to it they tell me they will call someone else.

Warren, which team do you fly around?
i bet that job has its fringe benefits.

Mike,i referr to spare time as the time i HAVE to take every once in a while to get my mind off of buisness, sometimes i just cant take it anymore(like when i have $11,000 in invoices out and $8000 of it is past due):(

Tim,

I fly for one of the Goody's Dash teams (3-car team) and also sub for two different Winston Cup teams. Don't want to talk names on here but one of the cars is orange with a big 20 on it and the other team has M&M's on every flight, hint hint.

Going to the new Kentucky speedway this week with the Dash guys. Should be fun.

By the way, Tim, what are you doing on this bbs at 3 am? I heard you could REALLY use your beauty sleep!! Later.

Sorry Tim. Just noticed that the time tag on my computer is way off. I did tthe above post at just after 8 am and it put it at after 1 pm. SOOOOOOOOOOOO you probably werent posting at 3 am but were in your little beddy bye getting your beauty sleep after all!!

Tim,

I guess I really didn't know what all is entailed to fabrication. Just makes me more impressed on your fabrications. Really, well done.

I think I will go with an aftermarket modification. Will just have to get this condo 8 deck job finished then will order one. They have one already to go for my bike, complete with petcock and fuel gage cap. If I remember correctly, it will run me about 800.

If you think that is a great price, I will go with it. Have a buddy that is an expert airbrush artist and another who is a laid off graphics design artist. Will use their services.

Thanks for the words.

Reed

spare time....spare time......hmmmmm

well, i just used my "spare time" to restore my own deck. been putting it off forever waiting for some spare time. Does that count?

My wife and kids get all the spare time i can find. Mostly after dark or Sundays. My son (11) has a third tryout for Travelling soccer team this weekend. (he made the first two cuts!!!) My Daughter (6) got her first part in a play and is really excited to "say her lines" and act. They are really cool kids!! My wife has a full time job keeping me in line.

Any musicians in the group? I really enjoy playing drums. Have for about 25 years now. Only gig I have currently is every Sunday for a crowd of 5-600 at the crack of 8:15am. (Love this gig !!) Looking to record some stuff with "the band" at some point down the road.

Warren, your right about one thing i definately need some sleep,i cant seem to get into the bed before 12:00 and im always up by 7 am,last night i was eating dinner at 9:30 pm. its 6pm now i got to leave the job early cause i ran out of acid.

Reedsterstl..i believe that is a fair price for the tank you are looking at,the cheapest handformed harley tanks ive seen were about $600 and go up to $1200,so that price seems inline.

petcocks are usually additional $69 and gas caps are extra too so i would say this is definately a bargain. good luck with your bike.

Hey Shawn,
Rod's a rock-n-roll guy from way back. He used to be in a band (before I met him) and played drums and guitar (lead). He also sings. It's funny, you would never know it to look at him now since he's a pretty quiet guy. He also had reeeeaaalllllly long hair.

These days we don't have much time for it, but we like to dance. We have been learning the Hustle from a former champion (didn't know that when we signed up) and it's been a blast. But last time we went we were all left feet and we need to practice.

Beth:cool:
