What do the residential and roof guys think

I recently got back into pressure washing. At first I was going after commercial flat work like most do. However I haven't had much luck. I have had a pretty good bit of success in window cleaning but not much pressure washing commercially. On the residential side I have gotten a lot of demand for roof cleaning(I'm putting my fat boy pump together today). I have a fairly new Landa that I am thinking about trading to clear my bill with my sales rep get a 4000@4gpm and get some cash to pocket and market with. The only reason I would have it would be to do residential driveways. I would use my softwash system for every thing else. My focus is now on window cleaning, Roof cleaning and house washing. I really don't want commercial work because I enjoy the residential a lot more. How many residential and roof guys use coldwater only and is it ever a problem. I also use a 19" classic surface cleaner

Although I am still fairly new to all this, I use a 4000/4 gpm coldwater and a 20" surface cleaner. All the driveways and walks here and cement and this cleans it fine. After the initial wash, I was downstreaming bleach to do a nice whitening of the cement, and it worked just fine. Now as of lately I have DSing Oxalic and it too works as well and also helps get rid of the irrigation rust stains at the same time. Both seem to do the same amount of whitening..just the Oxalic helps with stain removal a lot more.

Hey Tom, irrigation rust stain removal is an EASY upsell instead of doing it for free.

Kenny I'm having 6800 post cards going out in the next few weeks I'll try to shoot some of that to you if you need some of it

If I run across any commercial flat work while soliciting windows I'll do the same for you. I'm working on my fat boy right now but I'll call you later

good point--i was just looking at driveway cleaning as that, getting the driveway clean. But if rust stain removal is an upsell--I am all for that. Seems simple enough--Im on it!
I did have a bitch of a time with battery acid(golf carts) staining on a driveway today---that should have definately been an upsell.

Scott, what are you using to remove the irrigation rust stains? We haven't had much luck getting rid of them.

Have some huge driveways which takes forever to clean and most homeowners cringe at the cost. You can only move so fast with a surface cleaner. I agree down streaming sodium hypochlorite or ox is a good dressing. Ox is helpful in addressing stains.

Oxalic acid or Envirospec's Rust Away will easily take care of irrigation rust stains.

Kendrick, does anyone "Soft Wash With Hot Water" in your area? Hmmmmmm Think About It. Not an upsell just another reason to use your service.

They do around here Guy! They use WAY too hot water. Make sure you're only using water about 80-90 degrees....
