While I am here I would also like to mention that the only true non-marking hose in the industry is 'GREY' since it is manufactured without the use of 'carbon-black'.
Blue, Yellow, Red - Black all contain Carbon Black and will leave behind various degrees of marks. Yellow, naturally, will leave less while Grey will leave NONE. So why the marks? The majority of marks left by hose result from pump chatter. Under pressure - grab hold of the high pressure hose and feel the vibration. There is the culprit.
As far as quality of hose - we have tried them all including Goodyear and Parker and - you name it/we have tried it. The hose that we private label as Serpentine is manufactured by the largest hose manufacturer in the world and although all hoses have problems from time to time - since we have been selling the Serpentine brand we seldom - and I do mean seldom - have a problem.
About six month ago when there was a hose shortage throughout the world (in what I believe was an attempt to drive up hose prices) we had to go to another supplier who sold the same hose but who crimped their hose using their own brand of fittings. It was them the nightmare began. We must have had to replace 300 hoses because bad fittings.
Shortly after that our supplier brought his stocking levels back up and the problems went away. Our supplier who crimps and test each hose is ISO certified. This is not to say that you will never have a hose problem - you will. I was a contractor for many, many years and back then the quality of a hose was such that if I could be 30-45 days out of a hose before it found it's way to the dumpster - I would 'kiss the ground and say thanks.'
Good luck with your hose. It is and will always be one of the highest wear items on your pressure washer.
Tim:
Yeah, I think I can get it pretty cheap here, from a hydraulic place...I just don't like the black hose.
