We're furious...got any suggestions?

Guess who sent in half the money?!?!?!???!!!
Between my call and Rod's discussion when he called all bent out of shape, we managed to rattle half of it loose. Now all Rod has to do is drive out and talk to the guy (as promised) and hopefully he'll understand that anything else, is extra. He really seems to want Rod to have to bend over backwards for the money. He knows it's an hour out, and an hour back.

But hey, we've got half of what he owed, so we're getting there.

Beth

p.s. hope it doesn't bounce...

Beth, if you are afraid the check may bounce, it may be worth your time to go to the customers bank and get cash or a certified check. I have done that a time or two. Make sure you have some ID to show you are entitled to the funds. Actually I have only done that 3 times in 25 years in business. Twice I had to get really rude to get a certified check. The last time a friend was a teller and came to my rescue. The money belongs to you. the bank will give you all kinds of reasons why they cannot give you what is yours, it is all bull. Keep asking if there area funds to cover the check, and why you cannot have your money., Ask to see the state/federal law that states you cannot have your money. Stick to your guns. It can take as long to get the money from the bank as it has from the customer.

Douglas is right, go to thier bank. BUT, first go to your business bank and have the operations manager guarantee your signature as the payee in the endorsement area on the back of the check. This way the payee's bank is not going to give you any hassles. (only had to do this once, but it turned out to be fine, and he is still a good customer!)

Hold on all of you, there is a faster and better way, almost all banks have a tool free line to verify checks.

Call it, punch in the account number then the amount, it ask for that information and it also will say something like:

There is currently enough funds to cover that check, or there is NOT currently enough funds to cover or pay that check.

Most banks will NOT cash or convert a check if it is made out to a business, it must be deposited into the business account.

Verify that check before you do anything else, then if there is enough get that letter from your bank and high tail it to his bank.

Hey Rod charge him MILAGE:)

Jon

Well, the practical joker in me wants to go out there with a pump up sprayer full of water or colored water, and tell him it is a highly corosive chemical and unless he pays I'll spray his property. Tell him that withing 48 hours it will eat it alllll away. Then count to ten, and start spraying and watch him freak out, pee himself, and run for the check book. Of course, I would have another sprayer of colored water that would counteract the first .... hahahahaha

I agree Jon, and I told Rod he shouldn't do anything else but he is trying to at least give the guy a fair shake.

@!#$^%&@!#$^&!@!#%^&@!#$&

I think he's scamming us (or trying to) too! And I'm not putting up with it. Pay up pal, or me and the colored water are comming to visit!

Beth
