Water Recovery

Here's my dilemma. I've been washing fleets in 2 locations for awhile now and there are clarifiers in both places so I've never really been to concerned about Water Recovery. There is a location I want to get into but recovering my water is going to be a must and I need some advice.

The yard is 300 yards long and pretty wide and is wall to wall asphalt. The edge is curbed and it looks like the water will all flow to one common drain which looks like a huge plus to me.

I'm aware of the rules but pretty much in the dark where functional recovery systems are concerned and the only one I've seen so far that looks good is "Vacu-Boom", made by a company in North Carolina. It looks like a pretty easy setup and all I'm really interested in is recovery and not recycling. My question to you guys is does anyone have any experience with this kind of system, and can you tell me the pros and cons?

I do plan on trailering any system I end up with and am kind of in the dark about the size of the tank I will need for recovered water. I'll be using customers water so won't have to carry any to the site. Alot of the water will evaporate but they do have rain water runoff rules here that I'm sure will have to be considered (I've already been written up for that one).

Water Recovery is probably tricky, but obviously an important subject so if anyone has any ideas or advice I'd appreciate the input.

dam the drain, put a sump pump in the low spot
and pump it to your recovery tank
size of tank depends on what you are mounting it to and/or whats going tp pull/haul it[big as possible, dont want to have to stop washing to empty it]
take the water to where ever the porta potty guy goes to dump it[take a gallon of wash water to them for testing to make sure you can dump it there]

Thanks Ron P.

The response to my first question was so overwhelming that I've decided to ask another.

Nah, nevermind.

Hey Chuck,
Give me a call. I should be able to help you with this. I have been down for a couple of days, not sick just not logged in. So that is why I have not responded. Anyway, give me a call.

I just finished reading Scott Stone's article on Water Recovery in this months BlastMaster Magazine. Scott pretty much layed all of this out so anybody, and I mean ANYBODY can be in compliance, and at relatively low cost. Of course the word "compliance" can be argued by some, but I think this article is a must read for anyone considering addressing this important subject.

Good, I guess that means I don't need to E-mail it to you. I hope that it was helpful.
