water conditioner

Hard water is full of minerals such as calcium, magnesium, metal cations, and compounds such as sulfates and bicarbonates. When “hard water” contacts glass, it can form water spots that are unsightly and hard to get rid of. Soft-Nesse is a chemical water softener, which helps remove those minerals. The resulting soft water is more compatible with soap and rinses away easier without those 'hard-water' spots.

It's best to add it to the tank before cleaning. Softer water helps the soap to do a better job. You can add it to the soap when DS but then we're getting into a bunch of math to figure out how much to add. I would be happy to figure that ratio out for you if you would prefer to use it on the DS. You can use it with the rinse water as well, but you're not helping the soap, you're just keeping the windows spot free.

if you have any more questions, Id be happy to answer them here, in Private message, or you can call or text me at the number below.

The reason that soft water works better with soap is because soap is designed to attack the elements that land on surfaces. Minerals, oils, etc, and that is the very thing that the soap has to neutralize in hard water before it can work effectively. What happens is the soap is "cleaning up" the water, so that are not enough chemicals to react with the dirt being held on the surface of whatever it is you are cleaning. The idea behind most soaps is that they will break down the surface tension or chemical bonds of the dirt, but if there is not enough soap to break that bond, it makes the soap appear ineffective.

There, now you are totally confused.

When I can afford it, I'll have a water softener mounted in my trailer, or next rig. I imagine the results will be much better than with the hard water 'from the tap'.

that sounds nice Red... but that what the product Connor put up is supposed to help with, in the meanwhile.

There's an obvious difference with the suds (need less soap or heavier foaming if you prefer), but does anyone know if hard water has any effect on SH? If soft water enhances the SH's ability to clean, that would be an added benefit as well.

If I can find a gallon of soft water (from a softener) I'll do a test on some concrete to see.

I have some test kits if you want to find the hardness of the water. They are very effective when using well water. One other thing if you wash with warm water around 110 degrees the chemicals work better. Like I have always said " Would you take a bath in cold water and no soap?'

For almost a year I had a water softener on my trailer for washing trucks, then again with a different brand of water softener and with our hard water, there was no difference in how the water cleaned or water spots, that is really in the TDS of the water.

For really clean and spot free windows, you need RO water or DI water.

With RO water you will have to have a machine making water at your house or shop and take the water there with you.

With the DI water, you can put a tank on the truck or trailer and use valves and hoses to switch between tap water and DI water running through your pump or have a separate hose reel just for a hose to rinse things with DI water.

To know how long the DI tank will last you, you have to know your TDS in your area and call your Culligan or other DI tank supplier and they can help you with the math to see how long the DI tank will last you. They run from $50 to $200 depending on where you are and the size of the tank.
