Wand for roofs

I do just about the same. I use a stainless and somtimes an aluminum wand. I put a 45deg angle on the end with a qick disconnect so I can change over to different size tips. I use a 3/4 in ball valve which I've got a qc on also which lets me use different size lances if I need longer or shorter.

Not a fan of that schedule 80 gray stuff for the lance part. Put any weight in form of quikies or angles on the end and drop it a few time on concrete and they go snap.
I like 8' painter lance with long grip used from the hip...
On the business end goes a small 1/4 npt brass coupler...tips hand tightened in suffice on low pressure so no need for quikies really. I use same lance with the high pressure too mainly from the ground. Also have a 1' angle I can throw on making it same as Larry's above.
In the case of low pressure work the hose inlet end of the lance gets a brass 1/4" to 1/2" reducer, then a 1/2" ball valve, then a 1/2" npt to 3/4" female garden hose thread.
Besides not breaking compared to the plastic stuff there are a few other things I like about it. It is heavy and long enough that it dont fall from where you put it and the ball valve hanging back away along the side keeps ya dry if there is a small leak. Again this thing is used from the hip mainly. An ice pick type attachment that attaches similar to handlebar risers on a bicycle might not be a bad idea eh? :)
Surely there are stainless options for the fittings available but about $10 from Lowes works for me.

I use the wand that came with the Bandit. It is sch.80 pvc with the 45 elbow and ss coupler on the end so I can change tips as needed. It came with the poly gun that Bob sells at PressureTek and the gun/wand is the original that came with the Bandit almost 2 years ago.

I have dropped that off the roof, off the bucket truck, off ladders hundreds of times over the last 2 years and no problems, only had to change out the coupler a few times as they get rusty and stop working.

That is still the original poly gun too. I have bought spares so when it stops working, I have a spare but it keeps going and going and going. hahahahaha

That wand works great for me and I will be building another so I can have one on the trailer and one on the bucket truck.

Chris that's great that pvc don't break for you. Perhaps it is a temperature thing or a quality thing. I just know if the right resonance is had from a slap on the ground that the lowes gray can snap off. Coupler becomes useless as well if it snaps right at threads. Yea it only $4 of parts but time is money. Ought to have backup..applies to many things eh.

Since it is so cheap to make, I will be making 2 of them tomorrow for a project and need a spare just in case.

On Michael's video, that is the poly gun that I got from Bob that came with the Bandit and has held up for almost 2 years now.

I wish regular pressure washing guns lasted that long. I use the ball valve mostly because of that.

You can use anything you want but remember for roof cleaning, those chems are very corrosive and why would you want to throw away $20.00 or more just for the gun when it goes bad when you can make the ball valve and whole wand for under $10.00?

It really is up to you but the gun will restrict the flow as the inlet is usually 3/8" where the Bandit gun is 1/2" or you could use a 1/2" or 3/4" pvc ball valve.

The long runs of a bigger hose compared to a tighter hose really makes difference on flow. I haven't noticed much harm though in having a smaller fitting, gun, DSer, etc. thrown in the mix. The water speeds up in order to go ahead and flow through such perticular part. Surely if too many restriction they will add up and sap noticeable power at some point though....Anybody see big difference of putting their tips right after 1/2" ball valve instead of having them at the end of a long 1/4" lance..haven't noticed myself unless I was to just use no tip and let the ball valve flow out huge.
Looks like Larry's lance above maybe larger diameter than a standard lance?
