i power washed a white vinyl sided house and noticed on one side that it was a dirty slight orange barely noticable. when i threw my soap and let it sit the area turned bright orange. i rinsed and as the house dried it become much lighter and less noticable.does anyone know what this is on the house? also i have seen this once before on white window frames but on the window frames it disappears.

Some type of acid or ammonia perhaps?

I know that they can turn bright orange...like when you clean your toilet if there is a little pee on it, the ammonia turns it bright orange.

I'd reapply...see what happens.

I Dont Know What It Was But The Job Is Done. I Even Tried Scrubbing It With No Results. I Know The Siding Had To Have Been Ruined.

Just Bleach.

if it is rust acid will take it off of it. Usually if you look above the stain you can see where it was coming from generally someone used the wrong screws on the gutters or from the trim of a window.

i looked to see where it might have come from but couldnt find anything that would discolor the whole side.

I have this happen from time to time - and I have never seen an obvious cause. The solution - and it works 100% of the time - is to downstream oxalic acid on the affected area, then rinse throughly. If you don't normally use oxalic, you can buy Rust Aid at HD for about $9/gal.

Hey Mike If They Were My Customers I Would Give Them A Call And Let Them Know That You Would Like To Come Back Out To Fix The Problem. Do What John Said And Try Some Rust Aid. I Dont See Why It Wouldnt Work. I Know This Would Cost You A Few Dollars But It Would Show That You Care About Your Customer. Which I Know You Do And Im Sure They Would Appreciate You Following Up On Them.
