Venneer or composite decks

Hello all,

Found out about this Board from the Roundtable discussions! Great Idea.

My questions is: I am bidding a 85 deck job for a Condo assoc. and the deck floors (only) seem to be either (according to contact) Venneer or I think some sort of composite. My question is what do most of you do with this, I dont believe it can be stained and am worried about the look of the deck after the rails are stripped and stained. If anyone has experience with this type of situation I would greatly appreciate it!

if this is what i tink it is try this
www.trex.com its gray and people use real wood for the rails if want it to look really good
try a 2 color sealer job on it
but its very labor intesive.
cleaning trex is easy scrub on your best truck wash and lightly rinse
cover it when you seal the wood
its made up of saw dust and old soda bottles
resin the color goes all they threw it so its hard to screw it up
they do make a stain for it but i have not tried it.

Thanks Squirt,

I ran into the Trex dealer here in St. Louis at our home show and your right on target ....but he recommended Olympic deck cleaner and a stiff brushing followed by a light rinse. I will just have to try both LOL Thanks again.
