Vapor lock?????????????

Twice yesterday my Honda 11 hp cold water unit ran out of gas, thats not the problem, the problem is each time I had to wait for the unit to cool down before I could start it again, I mean I could not even pull the pull cord, it was like it was locked, but then when it cooled down it started just fine, this has never happened before.

Any suggestions, the down time killed me!

vapor lock

when you get a lock in the fuel system it should effect the fuel pump but not the binding of the engine.
Are you relieving the pressure by pulling the trigger gun before re-starting? Have you tried removing the spark plug when it wont even let you pull on the rope?
To me it sounds like something other then just running out of fuel.
I run my aircompressor motor out of fuel every time and never had a prob in 2 years.

Thanks guys, talk about kicking myself in the butt, I'm pretty sure yall hit the nail on the head, but you know how it is when, sometimes the simple solution just doesn't come to you when you think too hard.

Sounds like you just invented a new saftey device for Honda Engines.
LOL

Try pulling the trigger while pulling the rope. If that still doesn't work Pull out the spark plug and clean out the cylinder with a little gas. Just pour some in the spark plug hole. Stand away from the cylinder and pull the rope. Gas is gonna squirt everywhere. Clean the spark plug put it back in and start her up.

if you do the

cylinder clean out with gas you might loose compresson for a little while. The gas might wash all the oil off and oil is what gives you compresson along with the rings. If your rings are good the gas should'nt get to the crank case oil.
I have done this trick but use kerosene.
make sure the plug wire is not near the plug hole.

Thanks Guys, the pulling the trigger while pulling the rope trick worked, but should I have to do this everytime, or is there a permanent solution?

Gav,
Replacing your unloader with a flow actuated rather than pressure actuated would do it. Or you can just continue to squeeze the trigger when re-starting.

Your choice.

www.envirospec.com part #1625-777 EASY START VALVE
$7.95 also need hose barb call them and ask.
it installs on the high pressure side and bleeds the pressure down[lets the water out] when not in use.
They have a min order so get your inline water filter from them and your float valve.
