Up stream injection VS Dowstream injection

Upstream injection VS Downstream injection, that is the question.

We have always ran our chemicals through the pump under high pressure and applied them while the water is HOT.

Some outfits still apply chems. with a pump up sprayer.Only place we have had to use a pump up sprayer is a pre soak application on filters or equipment.

Or even a foamimg caustic application?

What system do you use where and why?

We use Chapin black pump-ups and downstream injection. We use dual lance wand for the downstream which lets us apply and rinse with adjustable pressure. Have considered using upstream but just too lazy to hook it up. We also have those pressurized soda cans but find they are just one more thing to mess with. It all boils down to KISS.

A pump up sprayer takes to long, you apply the chems then you have to wait for a dwell time. TICK TOCK TICK TOCK.
That how they teach you to do things over at Rusty Britches hood camp?

Must be charging by the hour not the job?
Hey Josh hows that guy im Missouri related to you anyhow? LOL Wifes sisters brothers cousins neighbor?
CHEERS Goat.

I'm not sure which guy in Missouri you are refering to. I think I sense a ribshot of some sort there, but I'm not totally sure.

If you really want to know how they teach at Rusty's school maybe you should sign up. You might learn a thing or two.

It takes about 5 minutes to spray down a 3 hood system, and by the time you are finished applying the chemical, your first hood has been soaking for about 5 minutes. It really doesn't cost that much time.

The chemical I use breaks down the grease on contact, so there really is no need for a dwell time. I think yiou might be cleaning to many chinese joints.

Pump up sprayer takes to long.
Thats what happens when ya go get trained by people who never cleaned a hood before.
Maybe they should hire me to show ya how to get things correct and stop waisting time.lol

Rusty didn't train me to clean hoods, Roger Gonzalez is the instructor. Rusty gives the exam, and certifies you according to the NFPA.

I think there should be a rant cap on this board. One rant per subject per day.

How long have you been cleaning hoods?

Ok Ok Ok .. My pump alone on my machine runs about $450.00 bucks I would'nt run chemical thru that thing to save my life//
2) My hose is double braid hose it runs about $160.00 per 100 ft .. I wouldn't run chemical thru that either.

My guns are st 2000 and wands about $ 60 bucks each I wouldn,t run chemical thru those either..

My pump up sprayer $21.99 I will run all kind of stuff thru that..

If you wonder what caustic and or bleach does to the piston walls of your pump do this take a piece of brass and a piece of steel and a piece of ceramic and soak them with caustic and let the sit for about an hour.. pretty rough lookin ....

14 years in the hood cleaning business.......

I run a General pump hard for a year before I have to rebuild it.
Only thing I do inbetween rebuilds in break down the hard water on the inside of the coil, hoses, pump, and unloder with some scale remover.

Glad to see your back John.

"Dem pump up squirters is fer sissys" he he.

I've been thinking about downstream injection ever since I heard that is what Mikey is doing. What about the aluminum fans, do you have problem in this area, can't quite get the water caustic ratio worked out and end up burning the aluminum. How strong are y'all mixing the caustic beeds?

I have been using a pump up sprayer for four years. Last week I bought a shurflo 12v pump. I mounted it in my trailer with a battery and 4 50 ft sections of hose with quick couplers and on a hose reel and use a old gun with a 40 degree tip. Although it might take some time to move the hose in and out I will never go back to a pump up sprayer, instead of pumping and spraying a small stream, two or three swipes and you are done. I also found out that if you mix dawn ultra with the caustic right before you spray it foams better.

I also use downstream injection sometimes. I have it on a quick coupler and put it on the end of my gun. That works good also.

Jeremy- man its COLD up your way in the winter time.
You keep going all winter long?

Try too. In dec, jan, we try to work anytime it gets above zero. Longest stretch where we couldnt clean was 12 days where it was 20-30 below. When it finally got back up to zero it was like a heat wave and we had no problem cleaning.

Pump on my whitco is 4 years old , never been rebuilt.. Still pummps aut an impressive 3200 psi at 4gpm.... I think I am going to buy a shurflo and run a 1/4 inch line all the way up my pressure hose and attach it to a wand .. this will be a crazy experiment..

When I bought my washer I got what he called a soap thrower. I took the long extension off of it and put a quick coupler on it and it has some type of a variable pattern tip on it. I has shot far enough for me but I have not done some of the longer ducts that some of you guys do.
