Unloader mounting- pump or mount block

I have had a couple of people tell me it is better to mount the unloader to a mount block and not to the pump. Is there a reason for this or more of a personal preference. Getting ready to mount mine on a belt driven skid plate and have little to no room for block mounting. I bought the block thinking I was mounting it that way but now I wonder about just putting it on the pump.

Takes the "torque" of the valve switching into bypass off the head of the pump.

Which unloader are you using Roy? I'd mount a VRT3-250 or Pulsar on the pump outlet, but not a K7...too heavy. Make sure to use a hydraulic nipple to mount too. A brass or schedule 40 nipple will snap off.

I have this on a Pressure Pro skid plate with a 19 horse kohler and a tsf2021 pump. Does anyone have any pics a skid plate with a similar setup so I can see how it is setup. I am just not sure that I can get the right angle for the hoses to clear everything.

I would load a pic but for some reason I still can't load pics. I have loaded others in the past but have not been able to in the last two weeks.

Roy, when you're posting click "go advanced". Then scroll down to "Manage Attachments". Click it and another page will open and that's where you do the pic uploads.

I wouldn't mount the green spring on the pump...it's just too heavy.
