Today while hooking up the rig I noticed two of the wires on the trailer side of the connector were showing bare wire.
Now I have a problem. The current plug is 4poles/5wires,but I can only find 4pole/4wire replacements.

The wires are white, yellow, green, yellow w/brown stripe and green w/brown stripe(these 2 shared a pole on the old plug).
I have no idea how to wire the 5 wire to the new 4pole/4 wire connector.Anyone have a clue?

White is ground.
Green is right turn / brake.
Yellow is left turn / brake
Brown or greenbrown, yellowbrown tailights.

I wired the new plug exactly that way Russ. With the green/brown and yellow/brown wired to the solid brown.Unfortunately there are no lights I'm going to have to check connections again.I;m losing power some where.

If the vehicle towing the trailer has separate turn signals from brake lights it requires the 4 to 5 wire adapter.

FYI I've found this site helpful for me.

It has some good troubleshooting videos at the bottom.

Trailer Wiring

Why not just wrap electrical tape around the wires that were bare and keep using them and be done with it.

Glad you got it worked out.

When I bought my new Dodge truck in 2005, I had them put the trailer brake controller on at the dealership and I had to get the 7wire to 6 or 5 wire adapter to pull my trailer. I got what I thought was the right adapter, the lights and blinkers worked. 2 years later time to replace the brakes on my truck, found out that the adapter I bought was not exactly the right one or it had a bad wire so I had the trailer guy change the connector on my trailer. It sure stopped a lot better with those trailer brakes working.

I wish those trailer brakes would last longer than a year, I only have brakes on one axle but am planning on installing brakes on the other axle soon.

Those trailer wires mess me up every single time so I have to take it to the trailer guy.
