ughhhh...battery

I'm getting to old to pull start this pig of an engine because I forgot to hook up the charger. Can I hook up a battery tender and plug it into the generator allowing it to charge while the machine runs?

I don't see why it wouldn't work. I would think that the battery is just being used to start it and its not pulling anything from the battery while it is running.

If the system is started with a battery, it should be charging the battery while it runs. May have a different issue.

You could always get the regulator fixed. There is no reason that a properly designed machine should not be able to maintain its' own battery. Even if it is a 12 volt burner.

I hadn't even considered the regulator it's original to the engine so I guess almost 13 years it finally gave up.

Have you checked the water in the battery?

Got an AC/DC voltmeter?

Check battery voltage not running then while running. That'll tell you if it's charging.

Sealed battery.I have a volt meter though...I'll check it tomorrow
