Type II Hoods. Time to phase em out?



What is your take on Type II hoods?

I think they should be fazed out.
As most are misused and are not set up for proper cleaning.

I can see this being visited at one of the NFPA update meetings.
Could be great sales tool for fire supression and hood installs not to mention cleaning applications.
Not to mention safety issues.

I see about a third of the type II's I come across having something requiring a type I hood. NFPA should address it and phase them out.

I have never in 20 years seen a Type2 hood that is any good.
