Turbo Nozzles and Water booms

I have been contemplating purchasing a water boom and a turbo nozzle. I saw that Northern Hydraulics sells both. They have a dual turbo nozzle..has anybody tried that? It pricey 149.99, but I was wondering if anybody has one and if it is worth it.
Also, I have been doing more and more flat work...its pretty time consuming though. Will a water boom increase my production or will just the turbo nozzle increase it enough. No hot water yet, but i am looking for used stuff I just 3500 cold water and and a 15 degree tip

You should be able to find a good used surface cleaner somewhere.........you'll be amazed at how much faster you can work with it.

I've never tried a dual turbo nozzle.

When you say surface cleaner does that mean a water boom? How much of a difference will that make to my production in other words will it be worth my money?

a surface cleaner is kind of a lawn mower for pressure washing.
A water broom is just to rinse with not do any real cleaning.
Twin turbos cut your pressure in 1/2 and i dont see much use for them unless you have a 8 to 10 gal per min pump.
Speaking of equipment, tell us what you have and what your looking to clean with it and maybe we could be of more help.
If your washing cement with a wand, your crazy.
Go to www.google.com and type in "pressure washing" you'll find what your looking for if you surf a little bit.

I have a cold water 3500psi with standard tips. I clean houses, cement driveways, side walks, awnings, decks, and anything else I can get my hands on, but no exhaust cleaning. I have recently been doing more and more side walks and cement and and was trying to boost my productivity. My unit is a GX 390 (13 hp Honda) from Home Depot. I like it cause they stand behind their products, HD is convenient to where I live and it has adjustable Pressure for decks etc. I am very open to suggestions.

if you could save your $$$ and get a hot water skid, you will think that you died and went to heaven. The diffrence in pressure,GPM,and run time, without re-fueling will so so diffrent you'll wonder how you ever washed anything without it.
Add a surface cleaner and you'll open a whole new market to your services.
One is like washing dishes in a sink with cold water, the other is like putting them in a dish washer.
Even HD pressure washer's should have the pressure reg. by tip size not the unloader. This means every pressure washer has adj. pressure.
You mention your PSI in your post. Understand that pressure is only 1/2 as good as gallons per min.[GPM] GPM give you speed. Speed = $$$$$$$$.
Heat on cement= $$$$$$$
Heat cleans better and you use less chemicals.
The only place i find that you really dont need heat is wood.

Turbo nozzle

I got one of the double turbo nozzles that northern tool sells (www.northerntool.com) just becouse I couldnt find one anywhere else at the time. The one I have works great and it does double the cleaning area. I am planning on buying one of the regular flat surface machines though. They work even faster and theres less work in it for me.

O'Brien,

Not too long ago, I was in your situation; with the same machine and the same questions.

The two most important things I can tell you (other than getting heat) is: Find a way to buy a surface cleaner (Northern will give you 4-6 mos without interest) and vary the pressure on your machine with the tips.

A surface cleaner allows me (usually with cold water, if no heat, then you'll have more touching up to do) to do a standard driveway (2 cars wide, 2 cars deep) plus sidewalk in 20 to 30 minutes...and it looks MUCH better than wanding it. It's also gentler on the concrete.

If you look on one of the tips that came with your machine, you should see a number like 4.0. This number refers to the size of the hole and a 4.0 is calculated to give you 3500 psi @ 4 gpm at the tip. A 6.0 will give you 2000 psi and an 8.0 will give you 1000 psi. The key is, they allow you to run your pump at full volume 4gpm. When you adjust your unloader to reduce the pressure, you also reduce the flow. Many dealers sell the various tips - inluding Northern (up to 7.5)

Could'nt live without a surface cleaner..I tried Turbo Nozzles but if your not careful the ceramic tips in them break real easy...you can get a surface cleaner at norther tool for about $300.00 / a good one...
I perfer Eagles but they are a little pricey..

surface cleaners are quicker .. look at the photo after 3 passes in less than a minute..

alladin used with 3000psi @ 4gpm whitco

Wow, it seems like that post was a long time ago...LOL
I've baught, used and sold 1 17" surface cleaner and now I've got one of the bad boy 30" surface cleaners. I still use the double turbos for brick retaining walls and edges when I need them but the bad boy kicks butt!

turbo nozzles-double nozzle lance

:) Hi to all! I enjoy reading this bbs so thought I'd let you all know that there is a double turbo nozzle lance available from www.dultmeier.com that is only about $100.00. I just ordered one and haven't yet had the chance to use it. I like the catalog they sent me. They are primarily a carwash dealer, but they have a LOT of stuff for pressure washing and some good prices too. Hope some of you check it out, and good luck washing!
