Turbo nozzle on a driveway

Hello Everybody,

I know. I know. I have been told. A turbo nozzle will wear the cream off of concrete. I have been using a turbo for a while to get the concrete cleaner. This is mostly on gas pads.

Well... I may have found out the hard way why NOT to use a turbo nozzle.

Horror Story: I recently got a call from a costumer who said there was circular marks all over the concrete. This is a fairly new driveway. I went to check. YES!! There was those skidish marks from moving the turbo too fast.

I need advise.

1.) Go back and try to even out the marks?
2.) Apply some sort of sealant/cover laye to mask the marks?
3.) Pay big bucks to have another contractor to put a new top layer on?
4.) Use this as an excuse to grow into concrete resurfacing?

I WILL do the right thing. I was honest with the costumer and told them exactly what I did. It only shows up when the concrete is dry.Is there an easy fix.

I fear not.

Thanks,
Scott

I would say that if you can even them out so they're not evident, and there's no real damage to the concrete ,that's what you should do! If not, see options 2-4. I didn't know you could put a "top layer" on concrete driveways....I would imagine it would crack and come loose rather quickly. The only option I'm aware of would be to coat it with something or have it repoured.

you can put a top coat of concrete down. You have to use a special glue and use thin cement. I did it about 15 years ago and don't remember exactly how we did it. there may be better ways now. But, If you don't know how to finish concrete, don't even try. there is much more technique to finishing concrete than you think. Could you stain the concrete a "concrete gray" color and try to match it as close as possible to the existing concrete? No charge of course.

Scott,
First I would think the damage was done by going to slow rather than to fast. You might have also been to close to the surface. Didn't you see the damage occouring? In the future I would advise you do a test patch before starting? Any idea how old the concrete drive was?

I would get a surface cleaner and do the driveway again. Hopefully this will blend in the marks created with the turbo nozzle. I think this might work.

A contractor told me a top coat could be added to slabs. They drill into the slab and drive in numerous 3" rebar pins. The concrete is than poured and finished. Not sure if this would work on a driveway though. Vehicle weight is a factor there.

scott...in future put the turbo nozzle away and use the correct equip......if you want to get it cleaner get hot water and a degreaser for gas pads...just hot water for drives if you have any crushed nuts[hope you dont feel this way] or berries come and ask on here....hope you resolve this issue
