Truck Lettering

I just bought a used truck off of a hvac company and they had thier company info stickers on the side I blasted it off with my 15 deg tip but the glue is not coming off. Any Ides for an easy way to get this off?

WD-40 and a rag.Then wash with regular car wash soap.

heat will help as well ,wd 40 will works fine but make shure you get it all off if you plan on re-lettering.Thats my 2 cents worth

I tried the wd 40 nothing I also hit it with 180 deg water the glue is still there.

try diesel fuel on a rag. Get the rag almost dripping and wet and soak the glue. Then let it set for about 5 min. or so. Then wipe off with a dry rag. It may take a little elbow grease but it should come off. The wash to get the fuel off.

Hello Kory,

We use a D-Limonene based product. AR 409 Orange Peel (Adhesive Remover).

Check with a sign company in your area. The product is kinda pricey ($40/gal or so), but it does the job. We have removed lettering from several hundred fleet trucks and cars and in most cases you can't even tell that it once had lettering at all!

Try a butyl based degreaser on a rag. Works for me.

I just used a rag dampened with gas to get mine off my truck doors. Worked like as champ. I went back and rewaxed the doors after I was done, but there was no residue at all left on the doors...

We had to put new lettering on our trucks at work. The guy responsible for taking off the old lettering used a heat gun to start and tried all kinds of stuff (some of it is listed by others above) beore he settled on a tire degreaser. Man did it work! It was somewhat comical because the trucks were white and when he rinsed them off, the water runoff was white. He figured it was only a layer or two of paint gone and we would not be doing anymore lettering before we sold the trucks. The only real problem he encountered was on the older trucks. He had to basically wash the whole thing with the degreaser because the door or side that he had done with the degreaser was really white now and did not match the somewhat weathered look of the rest of the truck...........Some people......

Hey guys I got the glue off. Steamed it with a soap nozzel then scrubbed it with a medium brush.

i just realized what you were talking about ron i dont know where in the heck i came up with wd 40 ??????i had one of those alabama brain farts or something,someone must have been talking about wd 40 and i typed it in ,go figure i used alcohol so anyway .........uhhhhhh.........im out of here.thanks for checking me on it
