Trailer Camera

I have been wanting something like that for several years now.

I have seen the license plate mount type but here in Texas, the mount will block the state "Texas" if you keep it there all the time and you will get a fine if the police see that there, all the decorative license plate accessories cannot block the state.

I was thinking of making the camera part into a remote sytem with a battery and magnet but looks like this has done it and it looks like it might be built good to last a while.

I was hoping it would be less money than $200 but what it saves in aggravation and getting in and out of the truck to connect the trailer would be worth it to me.

I might get one in a few weeks.

I've got one brand new in the box. I'd be happy getting $150 out of it. I bought it then never used it because I bought a pickup that had a camera built in. Never even opened it........

This one is not meant to be mounted permanently
 
Yes, my point was that the kind that I have seen so far only mount onto the license plate bolts which means you would get a ticket if left on for a while.

This new one would be nice if it lasts a while.

If you don't buy it Doug, I will buy it.

Ahhh. I see.

If you purchase a high quality backup camera systems the license plate camera will actually bend out of the way of the state label. One truck has license plate bracket style and one has a drill through bullet style camera. Remember the cheaper the camera the poorer the picture. I prefer and install Rostra brand weekly.

Are those hard to install?

I don't have experience in wiring that much but would like something that is easy to install and good quality.
 
They are very simple to install. If it is a newer gm truck the power/ ground and reverse wires should be located right in the rearview mirror harness. If your interested in price give me a call at 906-399-5743 and I can save you well over $100 from any online stores.
 
I looked on their site and it looks like there is nothing for a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500.

I would guess that they make something for my truck but my mirror is not one of those fancy kind like on the website, it is just a mirror.

I am starting to think that the magnetic mount might not be a bad idea, no cutting wires, no running wires beneath the trim, etc..... Just put it there when you need to connect the trailer then remove it when done.
 
Got the camera in yesterday that I bought from Mike, thanks for getting here so fast Mike. I used it this morning and it works great. I am very happy with it. The reception and picture are actually way better than whats in the video. The video to me is very clear.

 
Love the camera in my truck cant imagine how I ever got by without it. Now when I get in any vehicle and backup I keep looking for the monitor to see where I am going.... I remember seeing one at sams a while back that was a good deal.
