Trade Shows

We did our first trade show today. Very successful form of marketing. Will definitely do more. We need to work on our stand a bit more but still had great success.

How many other companies here do these?

I was impressed with our results already. We gave away free Suns Tickets raffle. Just the email addresses were worth the $750 we put into it.

Ty, we're gearing up for some home shows & trade shows this year....maybe do a Mall space. Ordered some giveaways last week. Which reminds me....I need to order some info pads.

Sweet stand Guy! Looks great buddy! We are going to work a little more on ours every trade show. We are going to logo the tent and desk cover.

We brought out our Cyclone and told people about it. It was a hit!

I just wanted to say I love your stands! I am considering this fall doing a couple in the local area to boost business through the winter...

I am curious to see if anyone has done anything extravagant? I have seen some where people actually brought in the front half of a shed, half dirty half clean... Gutters and all.

Networked with existing and generated a couple new accounts. Best bet so far for myself has been IFMA meetings and or membership.

The more professional organizations joined, get you that much closer to the decision makers and people who actually hire us "Vendors".

I wasn't a big dog and pony show kind of guy, but now me and my sales team are the "booth" and regular participants at many Bay Area California PM events.

People like to give contracts to people that they know and socialize with on a somewhat regular basis. It has been the best thing I have done for the money- join Property Manager and Facility Maintenance type of gatherings or shows.

Very True!!!!!!!!!

I just did a trade show to PMs (I'm a member of the association) and found giving a $50 Out Back Steak house gift card was one of the better things that worked for me because it gave me a reason to say "have you signed up for the steak dinner drawing? We're going to give it away today". I have done free power washings and free window cleaning but that really costs more than $50 and has to be scheduled, worked in etc. The $50 gift card does the same thing and its done over that day.

I discourage then from just tossing in a business card, I say its ok but we like people to fill out a slip because that keeps the drawing fair and not everybody has a card on them. They fill out a simple drawing slip, name , phone email. Personally I've done a few shows and never follow up all the leads with a mailer or email blast. I just want to slow them down or have a reason to start a conversation, its good when it even gets backed up a little. If I can get people to stop I can find out if we have anything to talk about business wise. Then I take there name or card and make notes and for sure follow up. Yes its cherry picking but I look at shows as exposure and relation ship building. The best contact business wise I have grew out of a carpet cleaning vender set up next to my booth last year. The conversation started " have you signed up for the drawing"? So dont be catty or ignore the other venders, this years show contacts look very beneficial too.

Lastly , on the mechanics its was a Big color board hand printed Free Drawing and a color photo copy of the Gift card( just in case of theft) and a big clean bucket.
