Tractor washing

another question for everybody. Who uses di/ro water? I have used di water for along time now but it does cut into the profit.

we do 20 trash trucks in 1 30 mins

so am I the only one that uses di water on everything? I even use it for flatwork. The way I look at it I don't have to worry about water spotting windows that they may have just had cleaned.

Waste of money for flat work IMO. plus it will eat away at your coil from what I understand.(correct me if Im wrong) I use R/O water in my fleet washing rig. it works fine

Jonathan,
I took over a Fleet Wash contract in 07' and they were actually fairly satisfied with their service. They were religiously consistent and on time, but the quality as you said was not there.

If you constantly run DI water you do not need to descale, because there is no hardness to create the scale.
The usage of DI water, and its relative effectiveness, is dependent on your location. The water hardness in my area is close to 800 grains, which is VERY hard.
I use DI water after the final rinse on the windows. That means that I can get the windows of a lot more vehicles done much cheaper now. That is what works for me.

Your water is not as hard as it is in Arizona. We use a lot of ground water, and so there are a lot of minerals. A 100 CA mixed bed bottle will last about 400 gallons here, if we are lucky.

here in Medford Oregon the city water is 30-40 parts per million. So a 3.2 di tank will last for a lot longer than for most. I also do a lot of car dealerships so I have to use the di water for them.

That is some hard water Scott. I am lucky we get water from lake Michigan so after treatment I think it is about 8-12 grains at the tap. The well water in the outlying areas are pretty bad though. I think over 25-30...

We have done 30 an hour with brushing and three guys. One soaps, one brushes, and one rinses.

30? Three guys? You driving them from one boat ramp to the other? LOL

400 gallons is correct here in Phoenix. The only time I use DI is for final rinse on dark colored RV's and fleet's windows.

When I was doing fleet washing, I took over fleetwash accounts on a regular basis.
