Top Producer....

So I'm starting the business. Getting what I feel is a nice set up and I'm ready to clean something.....

Today I mailed 500 post cards to nicer areas that could use some washing, with more cards coming and will hopefully get my first shipment of 50 signs to post in areas I wish to work.

I'm thinking about flyers and thought I'd ask. Those who do flyers, where do you usually target your flyers (where to put them) and how many do you do? Do you ever have any issues with non-solicit areas? Oh, are you putting them on the homeowners doors?

What are some really top producers....advertising means you guys used to help start your businesses. I'm in North east Florida, St. Augustine Jacksonville area ......trying not to step on any toes.....

Thanks,

Steve

I put them in 300k neighborhoods or bigger. I put the flyer half under the door mat, so the wind will not blow them down the road. Make them in bright colors, and use a catchy line on top. Keep it simple! As far as non-solicit areas, look out for signs on doors, and HOAs cant stop you from passing out flyers. Well mine in Charleston can't stop me! Also go talk to realitors see if they can help you out, they have a meeting once a week in the office, see if you can talk with them in there meeting. Offer to bring breakfast, dunkin dounuts is cheap. They will normally let you come and talk for 5-10 minutes to tell abit about you and your company. I always get 2-8 job leads doing that. Realitors can be a huge help! They need to move the home for a commision off the sale, help them make the house it's best so they can sell it for a good price!

Hey Steve....congrats on the new biz. We used to do a lot of flyers, and found a couple of things that helped. If you can do colors, do color. Just like websites, before and after pictures really help. Just like Jeff said, keep it smiple. Bullet items, like House Washing, Deck Washing, Remove Mold From Slippery Steps, don't write a book. If you're insured, add it! Free Estimates,. add it! High Quality add it! If you are putting flyers on mailboxes, fold it so the text and pictures are always visible, put it behind the flag not in the box (ticks off the mailman, but realize unless you mail these putting anything on a mailbox is illegal), target the bigger homes (more opportunity), we used to do it the middle of the night, easier to drive on the other side of the road, don't put them out if its going to rain, that will really tick off your potential customers. Best of luck!

Every Job

It's been a while for me as now that we're a store I'm not going after the pressure wash work. When we did, I had all of our crews putting at least a few fliers, magnets, biz cards to at least the 5 or 6 house right around the job we just did. (everyone wants to keep up with the neighbors!) It takes very little time, and even on a rushed day, keeps the advertizing going! With deck work, we found lawn signs work great. Have to be there twice, so with permission, we left one at the wash, and picked it up after we sealed. Since we kept a daily log on each job, it was easy to know where we left the signs.
WELCOME TO THE INDUSTRY!:)
